I am in accordance with this, and losing shame, causing fall and confusion. Among them, the reason for the arising of afflictions is as follows: clinging to characteristics, and clinging to the basis of manifestation, thereby, the mind follows and outflows sinful and non-virtuous dharmas. Among them, being in accordance with the arising of afflictions is those sinful and non-virtuous dharmas themselves, and being in accordance with whatever accords with all actions. Among them, losing shame is like this: what should be prevented is not prevented, that is, those sinful and non-virtuous dharmas themselves are not prevented by according with all actions. Among them, causing fall and confusion is like this: with the root cause of shamelessness, causing fall, and thinking about the precepts to be disciplined. Striving for the knowledge of the measure of food, that is, striving for the knowledge of the measure of food, is perfect by abandoning eight states, what are these eight? Excessive attachment to food, excessive attachment to the body, exhaustion of vitality, being hungry and weak, heaviness of the body, not being without illness, life being completely impure, and being distracted by many affairs. Striving after not sleeping, that is, striving after not sleeping, is also perfect by abandoning eight states, what are these eight? The body being tired by conduct, being overwhelmed by sleep and drowsiness, tasting the pleasure of sleep, following the causes of afflictions, not striving to cultivate the antidotes to afflictions, not sleeping at the wrong time, not sleeping without purpose, sleeping at the wrong time, and sleeping without purpose. The ground of manifestation is to be understood as being classified in terms of the six modes of manifestation. Manifestation from disharmony, manifestation from non-existence, manifestation from home, manifestation from incompleteness, manifestation from a lower ground, and manifestation from the perishable aggregate. Among them, the disharmony of the body should be known as fivefold: disharmony with going, disharmony with birth, disharmony with initiating diligence.

There is no obstruction and disharmony, as well as disharmony with desire. The absence of conditions is fourfold, namely the absence of a spiritual friend, and the absence of hearing, due to the disappearance of teachings and realization, and the absence of a benefactor, and the absence of bedding and cushions. Desire for virtue is to be known by four powers, namely the power of conditions, the power of causes, the power of knowledge, and the power of accomplishment. Ordination in the well-spoken Dharma Vinaya is to be known as complete with four perfections, namely, because there is no pervasive affliction and it is incompatible with permanent affliction, it is complete with characteristics, and because it follows the practice taught by the Buddha, it is complete with action, as well as complete with intention, and complete with companionship. The precepts of discipline are also to be known as complete with five causes, namely, not falling into wrong views, and definitely renouncing, and not being angry, and being without fault, and not knowing satisfaction. Relying on two antidotes, it should be known that four kinds of sense restraint arise. What are the two antidotes? Namely, the power of individual awakening and the power of habituation. What are the four kinds of sense restraint? Namely, restraint of objects, restraint of pervasive afflictions, restraint of pervasive entanglements, and restraint of latent tendencies. Among them, restraint of objects is the mindfulness that diligently and correctly places the mind inward, guarding the mind, because it does not distract from the objects. Restraint of pervasive afflictions is that which becomes the cause, namely, acting in an equal position, because it completely abandons greed and displeasure in the objects. The distinction of that is from not grasping at characteristics until the sins and non-virtuous dharmas in that mind do not flow out, and by remembering and grasping at characteristics, at that time, in order to prevent grasping at manifest signs, one should accomplish, this is called restraint of pervasive afflictions. Restraint of pervasive entanglements is said to protect the eye faculty with the power of habituation. Restraint of latent tendencies is said to accomplish restraint with the eye faculty.
