It should not be fully displayed. Thus, it should be known that this is a brief presentation of the complete examination of transgressions. A monk who diligently applies himself to the training of discipline should rely on seven places and diligently apply himself to six places. What are the seven places to rely on, and what are the six places to diligently apply oneself to? It is said: Relying on the teacher, the preceptor, the instructor, the Dharma robes, alms, bedding, cushions, and the medicinal supplies for the sick, one should diligently apply oneself to the Dharma, the training, the instructions and subsequent instructions, samadhi, distribution, and mindfulness. Among these, the Dharma refers to the Pratimoksha Sutra and its distinctions. Among these, the training refers to the training in higher morality, higher mind, and higher wisdom. Among these, the instructions and subsequent instructions refer to instructing and subsequently instructing in higher morality, and instructing and subsequently instructing in higher mind and higher wisdom. Among these, samadhi refers to the nine successive absorptions. Among these, distribution refers to the distribution of material goods and the distribution of Dharma. Among these, the distribution of material goods is through one of the six Dharmas that lead to satisfaction. The distribution of Dharma is through the remaining five Dharmas. Among these, mindfulness refers to the five kinds of skillfulness, namely, skillfulness in the aggregates, and constantly knowing the difference between what is and is not the proper place, and diligently applying oneself to cultivation. There are five kinds of taking and abandoning in discipline, namely, taking for oneself, taking by receiving, taking by entrusting, taking by giving, and taking for others. Among these, taking for oneself is impure due to two reasons, namely, excessive attachment and deceiving by accumulating. The opposite of this is pure. Taking by receiving is also impure due to two reasons, namely, taking from an improper place, taking without measure, and taking improperly. The opposite of this is pure. Taking by entrusting is also impure due to two reasons, namely, entrusting to an unexamined person, and entrusting with an unsuitable object and an attached mind.
