And, just as with samsara, so it is with places; from thinking for the sake of harm to oneself and for the sake of harm to others, to experiencing individually the mental unease that arises from this, just as it is said in the sutras. What is the pacification of formations, is that also the truth of cessation? What is the truth of cessation, is that also the pacification of formations? For the time being, what is the truth of cessation, that is also the pacification of formations, but there are those that are the pacification of formations, but are not the truth of cessation, that is, by the cessation of impermanence itself and by the non-discriminating cessation, the formations are pacified. By what dharmas is it called the truth of cessation by cessation? In short, there are two, namely by the cessation of afflictions and by the cessation of aggregates. By the cessation of afflictions, the truth of cessation with remainder of aggregates is shown, and by the cessation of aggregates, the truth of cessation without remainder of aggregates is shown. If the truth of cessation is born later than it was not born before, how can it be permanent? If only permanent time exists, then why have sentient beings not completely passed beyond suffering? The truth of cessation is the characteristic of non-entrance and the characteristic of non-going, so for it, there is nothing that will be born later than it was not born before, for what has no birth and destruction, that is permanent. Although the truth of cessation is permanent, those who have cut off all bad destinies and thus realized it are those who have completely passed beyond suffering, and those who have not realized it are those who have not completely passed beyond suffering. If there is a truth of cessation, then the passing beyond suffering of sentient beings is distinguished by realizing it, but not by producing it. Answering the truth of cessation by completely abandoning the four faults should be known as the correct answer, that is, by completely abandoning the fault of superimposition, the fault of completely misunderstanding one's own nature, the fault of mixing natures, and the fault of defamation.

If it is said that there is cessation apart from the exhaustion of all conditioned things, this is the fault of superimposition. If it is said that there is no cessation apart from it, this is the fault of completely misunderstanding one's own nature. If it is said that there is cessation apart from it, both existing and not existing, this is the fault of mixing natures. If it is said that there is cessation apart from it, neither existing nor not existing, this is the fault of defamation. When all five aggregates that transcend the world are included in the path, why is the Noble Eightfold Path, with right view at the forefront, called the Truth of the Path? Because it is in terms of the three trainings. The training is like this: one trains again and again in the training of higher ethics, one trains again and again in the training of higher mind, and one trains again and again in the training of higher wisdom. The three aggregates are the Noble Eightfold Path, therefore it is called the Truth of the Path. Why are Right Speech, Right Action, and Right Livelihood established as the aggregate of ethics? It is said: Because of two reasons, namely, in terms of the enjoyment of the true Dharma and the enjoyment of resources. Right Speech and Right Action are the fundamental ethics, and ethics are the basis of all Dharma enjoyment, therefore it is in terms of the enjoyment of the true Dharma. Right Livelihood is not relying on the Dharma that makes a living by false pretenses, etc., but is the basis for seeking robes, etc., therefore it is in terms of the enjoyment of true resources. Where the Blessed One has especially spoken of the complete purification of the conduct of mind, one should know that whatever mind arises from reliance on desire, etc., for the sake of immoral ethics, and whatever mind arises from reliance on hypocrisy, etc., for seeking robes, etc., is the very impurity of the conduct of mind. Why are Right View, Right Thought, and Right Effort

What is the aggregate of wisdom? In short, the activity of wisdom has three aspects. These three aspects are perfected by these three dharmas: understanding the true meaning of the Dharma is the first activity. Having understood the true meaning, to speak, apply, establish, differentiate, explain, and clarify that very true meaning to others is the second activity. To cultivate dharmas that are in accordance with the Dharma in order to abandon all remaining defilements is the third activity. These activities are perfected in sequence by right view, right thought, and right effort. Why are they called the aggregates of right mindfulness and right concentration? Answer: In two ways, namely, by nature and by support. Concentration is the nature. Mindfulness performs the function of supporting concentration through four causes: directing the mind closely to the object in the four mindfulnesses; guarding the sense doors; abiding in awareness; and contemplating mindfulness like a place of joy, which is in accordance with concentration; contemplating the antidotes to obscurations, such as impurity, eliminates obstacles on the path; and constantly contemplating the signs of extreme solitude, stillness, extreme grasping, and equanimity; and repeatedly practicing by contemplating the signs in the practices of reverence. Therefore, mindfulness is the support of concentration. In that regard, right view should be viewed in eleven aspects: viewing internally, viewing the result, viewing the sore, viewing sin, viewing impermanence, viewing suffering, viewing emptiness, viewing selflessness, viewing defilement, viewing separation, and viewing the cause of separation. For the four types of formations, namely those associated with the entanglement of afflictions, those associated with the latent tendencies of afflictions, those associated with tasting the flavor, and those associated with faults, the four right views are to regard them as disease, tumor, sore, and sin.
