Yes. What are the five causes? They are the teacher, the practitioner, the practice, abandoning the near afflictions that are unfavorable to higher mind, and abandoning the near afflictions that are unfavorable to higher wisdom. Among these, the teacher is the Tathagata. The practitioner is a disciple whose faculties are fully matured. This person is also very docile. The practice is the wisdom gathered by "truth," because it is the unsurpassed antidote to abandoning afflictions. "As the Dharma" refers to the near afflictions that are unfavorable to higher mind, which are the obscurations of dwelling in secluded places, the anger of not tolerating instructions and following instructions, quarrels, miserliness, jealousy arising from attachment to gain and respect, and the pervasive conceptual craving of recalling previously experienced objects, which are in accordance with abandoning the training. The qualities of near afflictions that are unfavorable to higher wisdom are three: First, ignorance, which is the failure to understand the meaning of the Dharma merely through indication; second, even if the meaning of the Dharma is understood, but because one has become an ordinary being, doubt, uncertainty, and hesitation towards the truths have not been abandoned; third, the path of cultivation gathered by the four sights of learning, which has become unfavorable to wisdom, is the pride of thinking "I am." By abandoning these near afflictions, higher mind and higher wisdom are purified, therefore it should be known that the fruit of Arhatship can be attained. The Arhat should be regarded as the supreme of purity. The defilement and purification of the Hearer, in short, should be fully understood by three causes: nature, cause, and fault. The nature of this human body is distinguished by two characteristics: by having form, it is distinguished from all other bodies by a common characteristic. By being coarse, it is distinguished by its own characteristics, because its unclearness is different from the bodies of the gods. Its causes are also of three kinds: the general body

The cause of characteristics is like this: the four great elements. The cause of the individual characteristics of the human body are of two types: the cause of being born without being born is like this: the impure matter of parents. The cause of being born and abiding is like this: being nourished by rice and warm porridge, etc. Its faults are also of two types: being of the nature of suffering, and being of the nature of impermanence. Among these, the nature of suffering, when it is cold, the antidote of clothing is the antidote to the suffering of cold; when it is hot, the antidote of bathing is the antidote to the suffering of heat; when the end of the road and work is completely exhausted, the antidote of massage is the antidote to the suffering of complete exhaustion, one should know that it is the nature of suffering. The nature of impermanence is that the gathering contact of hands, feet, and sticks, etc., is the nature of destruction, and the gathering contact of weapons, etc., is the nature of offering, and when death occurs, it is thrown into a pit, or burned by fire, or completely eaten by various creatures born in the realm of animals, and it is completely dried by the sun and wind, and it is the nature of scattering and destruction, one should know that it is the nature of impermanence. Among these, the separation of gathering is scattering. After scattering transforms, the final separation of everything is destruction. Starting from the object of the mind, name overcomes everything, there is nothing more superior than name, under the control of the power of name, everything only flows away. What is the meaning of this statement? The answer is: In short, by examining the cause of purification, examining one's own characteristics, and examining the cause of all afflictions, the selflessness of the person and the selflessness of phenomena are completely shown. Among these, from the selflessness of the person, the four aggregates of name are completely known, and by abandoning all the characteristics of one's own realm, the self-nature of the imputed phenomena is overcome, and by completely knowing the selflessness, from then on it is terminology.

Because of fully knowing the names that arise from names, therefore, all the characteristics of its basis are overcome. Apart from the four formless aggregates, the entity of the nature of self cannot be found; apart from the names that arise from language, the entity of the nature of the imputed self cannot be found either. If both of these are not fully known, then all the afflictions of the object's characteristics will arise and follow, because all the afflictions of the object's characteristics arise from its power. The Blessed One also thought from this that clinging to the nature of phenomena will cause the arising of self-clinging, and by realizing it, it will also be realized. If it is realized, it will also cease. Twenty-sixth fascicle. The Blessed One said that the object of purification of the afflictions of the Hearers is these four noble truths: Suffering and so on are as before. If truth is reality itself, and therefore has the characteristic of non-reversal, then how can those who are fond of the reversed views of the outsiders, and those who speak falsely, those who are untrue, not so, false, and reversed, be understood to be included in the truth? If they are not included in the truth, then in those, the later arising can also be manifestly accomplished, and it will not become the cause of suffering. If it is said like this, then, like this, although those are untrue, not so, false, and reversed, nevertheless it should be said that they are included in the truths of suffering and origin. Why is that? Because, although they are included by falsehood itself, but only through the nature of falsehood itself, they are the nature of suffering and the cause of suffering, therefore they are true, so, non-reversed, and non-reversed. The meaning of impermanence should be understood in two ways, namely, starting from the way of the Great Vehicle and the way of the Hearer Vehicle.
