Abandoning the afflictions of attachment to household life, one goes to households, going occasionally and not repeatedly. Regarding things that cause attachment, due to improper attention, one takes on characteristics, and from this arises shame due to the birth of abandonment and attachment. Through falsehood, one begs and seeks robes and so on, and from this, there is no common behavior, one does not speak idle words, one does not engage in quarrels, one is well-disciplined, one conceals the body well, one does not touch what should not be touched by the body, one does not enter where one should not enter, one does not eat what should not be eaten, one does not drink what should not be drunk, one does not take what should not be taken, one is devoted to solitude, one inclines towards solitude, and with a mind settled in solitude, one only contemplates the examination of virtue. One goes to places like mountain retreats and dangerous valleys to make unbelieving households believe, and to make believing households in places like dried-up wells flourish again. Only through six aspects does one abandon the afflictions of stinginess towards households and go to households: when one arrives at a household, one has no attachment to the possessions of sentient beings, and especially no strong attachment. Regarding the possessions of sentient beings, as they are, one feels the same about possessions that are obtained and possessions of respect. One does not become miserable or unhappy because of not obtaining them, and just as with not obtaining, one feels the same about not being respected. With equanimity towards the gains of oneself and others, one does not speak praise of oneself for the sake of one's own gains and respect, and one does not speak dispraise of others in order to obstruct the gains and respect of others. Only through six aspects does one abandon the afflictions of giving Dharma with a defiled mind and go to households: having become faithful, one does not expect to gain more, and one goes after thoroughly understanding the true Dharma of liberation itself. One goes after establishing the thought of virtuous Dharma in others in three ways. What are the three? Bringing about happiness and alleviating suffering.

Listening with respect, upholding, wishing to practice the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma, and for those beings who are tormented by the suffering of birth and so on, in order to liberate them from suffering, relying solely on the good Dharma nature of the Dharma of liberation itself, those who wish to uphold or read the interpreted Dharma belonging to the Sutra Pitaka, the Vinaya Pitaka, and the Mother Tantras, it is taught for the sake of the long duration of the Holy Dharma. Among them, by abandoning the first of the near afflictions, one will abide in a state of non-contamination. By abandoning the second, one will obtain worldly enjoyments well. By abandoning the third, one will obtain Dharma enjoyments well. The explanation of the Minor Matters Sutra is that the Shravakas, through diligence in defilement and purification, in short, should fully know the three places, namely the place of defilement and purification, and should fully know from the place of defilement and purification, and should fully know defilement from defilement, and should fully know purification from purification. So, what is the place of defilement and purification? It is what is extensively stated in the Sutra, "This body is coarse matter, born from the cause of the four great elements," and so on. For the unintelligent, unskilled, and those with ignorance, this is the place of defilement. For the intelligent, skilled, and those with wisdom, this is the place of purification. What is defilement? For example, the fool, in order to do good and non-good, first investigates and thinks, and then performs good and non-good with body, speech, and mind, thereby causing the body in the cycle of the five realms to manifest as desired and undesired, accompanied by harm and full of harm. What is purification? It should be known that the two trainings are the main factors in the aspect of purification, that is, one training is the action of the basis of the knowledge of suchness, and the other is for severing afflictions. Purification can also be summarized as a detailed distinction from the cause.
