Dependent on conditions, manifestly directed towards birth, whether near to birth or far from birth. The detailed distinctions of these should also be observed to be distinguished in five ways: future moments, future births, future formations, future pervasions, future attainments. The dharma that has arisen in the present, the cause has been exhausted, the nature has not been exhausted, it is certain to perish after a moment, distinguished by all defilements, or some of them may also be distinguished by purification. The detailed distinctions of these should also be observed to be distinguished in five ways: present moments, present births, present formations, present pervasions, present ultimates. For example, like the mind and mental factors of an Arhat. Then, what are the dharmas associated with desire? Born in the desire realm, arising from desire, not separated from desire attachment, the mind not being in meditative equipoise, the dharma of that state obtained from birth, or from mental activity, enjoyment, pervasion, and all that will pervade, these are called dharmas associated with desire. Then, what are the dharmas associated with form? Born in the desire realm, entering into any dhyana, separated from desire from desires, not separated from desire attachment from forms, not having practiced above that, the worldly mind-ground dharma not having arisen from that samadhi, from mental activity, investigation, pervasion, and all that will pervade, these are called dharmas associated with form. Born in the form realm, not separated from desire attachment, not having practiced above that, obtained from the birth place, or from mental activity, worldly dharma enjoyed, pervaded, and all that will pervade, these are also called dharmas associated with form. How are the dharmas associated with form,

Also, one should appropriately examine the indeterminate dharmas. What are the virtuous dharmas? In summary, virtuous dharmas are said to be virtuous due to two causes: they are not inverted in their essence, and they are the antidote to inverted dharmas and are blissful. Thus, virtuous dharmas engage in perceiving objects without being inverted in their essence, and they are the antidote to those that are inverted and engage in perceiving objects of affliction, and they are in accordance with the happy realms and going to nirvana, therefore they are blissful. Non-virtuous dharmas should be examined solely by the two causes that are the opposite of these: being inverted in their essence and being unblissful. Indeterminate dharmas are neither inverted nor the antidote to inversion, neither blissful nor unblissful, one should examine them in this way. Furthermore, it should be understood that the divisions of virtue can be distinguished by five aspects: desiring the fruit in the future; and the antidote to all afflictions, for example, the unattractive, etc., is the antidote to desire, etc., up to the noble eightfold path being the antidote to all afflictions; being distinguished by the pacification of all afflictions, for example, nirvana; being distinguished by the state of purity, for example, being free from desire, dwelling happily in this, and dwelling by means of the noble virtue, etc.; being distinguished by benefiting sentient beings, for example, only those who are free from desire, that is, the compassionate shravakas, and the bodhisattvas, and the tathagatas, whatever various virtuous deeds they perform for the sake of others.

The ground. The causes of virtue are endowed with power through five factors. What are these five? They are: action, habituation, upholding special qualities, field, object, place, and nature. Constantly engaging in action, performing actions with reverence, performing actions in various ways, such as: performing them oneself, causing others to uphold them correctly, proclaiming their praises in various ways, and generating great joy upon seeing things that accord with the Dharma. All such virtues should be understood as being endowed with power through action. Furthermore, in other previous lifetimes, the causes and conditions of having fully shown and meditated on virtue many times, due to this, in the present, one's mind naturally inclines towards virtuous dharmas, one's mind does not incline towards non-virtuous dharmas, and one constantly abides in a state of non-conformity with non-virtuous dharmas. All such virtues should be understood as being endowed with power through habituation. Furthermore, those who are free from worldly desire, and noble ones who have seen the ground, dedicate virtue to lower realms, or liberation, or unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, and are free from all aspects of views. All such virtues should be understood as being endowed with power through upholding special qualities. Furthermore, offering abundant objects to the field of great generosity, and offering them at the place of the lama. All such virtues should be understood as being endowed with power through field, object, and place. Furthermore, the virtue that arises from generosity is, by its nature, less powerful than that which arises from ethics and that which arises from meditation. That which arises from ethics is, by its nature, more powerful than that which arises from generosity, but less powerful than that which arises from meditation. The virtue that arises from meditation is, by its nature, extremely powerful compared to that which arises from generosity and that which arises from ethics. Therefore, it should be understood that virtue is endowed with power by its nature. Non-virtue should also be understood as being endowed with power through the opposite of these five aspects. Texts and so on that have not been taught.
