All dharmas except... should be regarded as such. Nirvana should be known as supreme due to five reasons. What are the five? Namely: the cessation of the truth of arising, the cessation of the truth of suffering, the absence of fear, the absence of epidemic diseases, the absence of harm, the happiness of being free from contagious diseases, and the focus on the supreme, which is to abide in happiness in this life. This is because of abiding in the absence of characteristics, and because of the meaning of happiness, the meaning of joy, which is constant and never deceiving. These are the aggregation of the five reasons. Where are these found? Only in Nirvana, therefore Nirvana is called supreme. The dharmas to be cultivated should be known as all conditioned virtues. In short, cultivation should be viewed as four types: cultivation of attainment, cultivation of reliance, cultivation of abandonment, and cultivation of antidotes. Among these, the mental activity of cultivating in order to generate virtues that have not yet arisen is called cultivation of attainment. The abiding, non-forgetting, and extensive arising of virtues that have arisen is called cultivation of reliance. The mental activity of cultivating in order to abandon sins and non-virtuous dharmas that have arisen is called cultivation of abandonment. The practice of antidotal mental activity, such as refutation, in order to prevent sins and non-virtuous dharmas that have not yet arisen from arising is called cultivation of antidotes. Among these, from the mental activity of individually knowing characteristics to the mental activity of aspiration, all should be known as refutation antidote cultivation. From the mental activity of extreme solitude to the mental activity of ultimate union, all should be known as abandonment antidote cultivation. The mental activity of the result of ultimate union should be known as the cultivation of the antidote of clinging. Before this, all those belonging to the seven special mental activities and the upper grounds should be known as the cultivation of the antidote of prolongation. In short, all these four types of cultivation

There are two types of meditation to be observed: meditation on correctly taking vows and meditation on contemplation. Among these, physical meditation is meditation on vows. Meditation on discipline is meditation on correctly taking vows. Contemplation meditation on the level of meditative concentration and contemplation meditation on the level of knowing the truth should be understood as contemplation meditation. Among these, the first contemplation meditation is called mind meditation, and the second is called wisdom meditation. Among these, except for the mind and the last mental events of an Arhat, past dharmas whose results have been exhausted, whose nature has ceased, which have become subsequent causes for generating other dharmas, and which have been completely absorbed into the mindstream, even if hundreds of thousands of kalpas have passed, they will ripen into desirable and undesirable results. Some past events are merely memories of past experiences, while others are not remembered and are completely dissipated due to cessation, so it should be understood that they have no effect. Therefore, it should be observed that this is a detailed distinction of past dharmas. In short, the detailed distinction of the entities of those past dharmas should be observed as being established in five ways. What are the five? There are also momentary past dharmas, for example, among all momentary conditioned dharmas, all conditioned dharmas that have passed from moment to moment. There are also dharmas that have passed away due to death and transference, for example, from one sentient being to another, from "death and transference" to the extensive descriptions such as "death and termination." There are also dharmas that have passed away due to destruction, for example, the destruction of things belonging to the vessel world due to fire and so on. There are also dharmas that have passed away due to the complete loss of the past, for example, some people completely lose the attainment of virtuous dharmas, qualities, and states of well-being. There are also dharmas that have passed away due to the cessation of the past, for example, the cessation in the realm of Nirvana with remainder and Nirvana without remainder. Future dharmas whose results have not yet been exhausted, whose nature has not yet been exhausted, the arising of...
