It is the truth of suffering. The non-arising of future phenomena whose causes have been severed, and the cessation of the self-nature of those that have already arisen and possess previous causes, in terms of nirvana without remainder, is the truth of cessation. The right view that holds the true meaning, and the eightfold noble path that is preceded by the right view, is the truth of the path. This establishment of the truths is for the purpose of fully understanding suffering, abandoning the origin, realizing cessation, and cultivating the path. It is established with a concise nature, hence it is an establishment. The extensive establishment should be known immeasurably. In order to introduce from the gross truth of suffering to the subtle divisions, first, birth and so on are considered as the nature of suffering, and later, the five aggregates of appropriation are shown. The establishment of the abiding of conditioned phenomena is also established in five ways. What are the five? Lump food, contact food, mental food, consciousness food, and the life faculty is the fifth. Among them, lump food is gross, so the desire realm exists in all five destinies, and it also exists in some of the ephemeral sentient being hells, but it does not exist in the great sentient being hells. The remaining foods are visible in all three realms. The life faculty is the intention to regard conditioned phenomena as sentient beings. The Blessed One taught that those phenomena are what accomplish the abiding of sentient beings. When do conditioned phenomena abide by seven causes? What are the seven? For a while, only the initial arising is the cause of the abiding of conditioned phenomena, because if conditioned phenomena arise, they abide, and if they do not arise, they do not abide. The life faculty and food are also causes. The magical power of those who have power over the mind is also a cause, because they prolong the conditioned phenomena of life, so they can abide for a kalpa or more than a kalpa. The aggregation of causes and conditions is also a cause of abiding, so as long as one is not separated from causes and conditions, then virtuous, non-virtuous, and unspecified phenomena

It is because the aggregates abide continuously. The propelling of previous actions is also the cause of the abiding of the formations accomplished by attending to virtuous, non-virtuous, and unspecified actions. Like this, external objects are produced by common and uncommon actions. The absence of interruption is the seventh cause of the abiding of formations, because whatever formation arises does not create obstacles, and is not inconsistent with the continuous stream of similar arising, and is not a cause of destruction, that is the cause of abiding. Otherwise, it would only become destruction. Why did the Bhagavan say that sentient beings abide only by food? Although the formations also abide by those other seven causes, nevertheless, there are many causes of abiding, like this, those four foods cause the formations to abide through many diverse doors, and also, this abiding that comes from food is easy for children and young people to grasp, easy to enter, and easy to understand, while others are not like that, and also, food causes the senses and the great elements that have not grown to grow, and also makes those afflicted by disease free from disease, while others are not like that, and also, long-lived sentient beings will die untimely if they do not find food, like this, the path that all sentient beings abide by food is easy to enter into the practice of mindfulness and so on, therefore, with those five causes, sentient beings are said to abide only by food. Why, in the dominion of the power of life, is it said that sentient beings abide by formations? In whatever place food is never complete even once, and where it is not necessary to search for food with great effort, there are such places, but in that place, they abide only by the power of the dominion of life, and however the life of those is cast, they will abide until that time, therefore, in the dominion of that place, by the power of the dominion of life, sentient beings...
