All manifestations of any formations (saṃskāra) other than the aggregates included in the final existence (bhava-agga) are called supreme birth. The various distinctions of aging should also be understood to be manifold, namely, aging of the body, aging of the mind, aging of life, aging of change, and aging of bodily change. Among these, the complete transformation of the body, such as the whitening of hair and baldness, as described in detail in the sutras, is called aging of the body. The complete transformation of the mind from being associated with pleasant feelings to being associated with painful feelings, the complete transformation of a virtuous mind into an afflicted one, and the complete transformation of a mind filled with hope for desirable things into one where hope is fruitless, this is called aging of the mind. The passing of each day and night, each moment and instant, gradually diminishing life until it is completely exhausted in every way, this is called aging of life. The deterioration of all the perfections of power, and the transformation of health, complexion, strength, and robustness, etc., this is called aging of change. The manifestation of the body in the lower realms, after dying and transmigrating from a body born in a happy realm and well-endowed, is called aging of bodily change. There is also a single aging upon which all the aforementioned aspects of aging depend and occur, namely, the aging of formations (saṃskāra) that changes from moment to moment into something different. The various distinctions of existence should also be understood to be manifold, namely, momentary existence, continuous existence, existence dependent on conditions, existence without distraction, and existence according to law. Among these, the existence of a formation (saṃskāra) only at the time of its arising is called momentary existence. The existence of this or that manifested body, dependent on this or that food, for as long as life lasts, and the existence of the external world of containers until the end of the great kalpa, this is called continuous existence. Pleasure and pain, and neither pleasure nor pain,

Feelings that are neither pleasant nor unpleasant, as well as virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral dharmas, when their respective immediate causes are present, their temporary existence is a cause, and it is called existence through connection. When the samadhi of equanimity of mind manifests, it is called abiding without distraction. In other places, villages and settlements, regions and royal palaces, as well as the places where kings reside, the places where appointees gather, the places for learning crafts, and those who work together, following the old customs of behavior towards retinues is called abiding by custom. Furthermore, the various distinctions of impermanence should be understood, such as: the impermanence of destruction, the impermanence of birth, the impermanence of change, the impermanence of separation, the impermanence of what will occur, and the impermanence of what has already occurred. Among these, the destruction of conditioned phenomena that have arisen is called the impermanence of destruction. The arising of conditioned phenomena from non-existence is called the impermanence of birth. The manifestation of differences in conditioned phenomena at the desired time, all of these are called the impermanence of change of conditioned phenomena. Separating from possessions that have not become unpleasant, and losing control over them, is called the impermanence of separation. These four types of impermanence, which will occur in the future, are called the impermanence of what will occur. Manifesting at that time is called the impermanence of what has already occurred. Among these, those who indulge in enjoyment from desires encounter the impermanence of change and the impermanence of separation. When they remember, they grieve greatly and become discouraged, but they do not become weary of conditioned phenomena. Other non-Buddhists, when they remember these impermanences to a great extent, become weary, and even if they rely only on detachment from desires, they become weary of some aspects of conditioned phenomena, but not permanently. Noble Hearers, on the other hand, fully remember all impermanence, and they become completely weary of conditioned phenomena, and even transform into liberation.
