, and all thoughts about the future should be examined by combining them as appropriate. Similarly, thoughts such as 'life is the same as the body,' or 'life is separate and the body is separate,' or 'this (life) will end,' or 'the two are inseparable,' or 'it is not other,' or 'my self is not incomplete,' and so on. Among these, thinking about sentient beings is as follows: Here, some people, relying solely on the view of the aggregation of destruction, think like this: Where do sentient beings come from? Who is the creator of sentient beings? Where do sentient beings go? Where will sentient beings cease? Thus they think. Among these, thinking about the world is as follows: Here, some people, relying on the view of the aggregation of destruction, think like this: The world is permanent, and so on, which should be elaborated extensively. Starting from the nature of phenomena, they also think like this: How did my nature of phenomena, the nature of phenomena of sentient beings, and the nature of phenomena of the world arise in this way? Thinking like this, it is not possible to understand solely by relying on the principles of the Dharma. Therefore, this is also called thinking about the inconceivable. Among these, thinking about the maturation of sentient beings is inconceivable in four ways: namely, place, object, cause, and maturation. Among these, the meditative realm of meditators is inconceivable in three ways: namely, truly knowing the meaning of the exhaustion of suchness, as well as mastery, and perfectly accomplishing the realm of the exhaustion of defilements. Among these, the Buddha realm of the Buddhas is inconceivable in five ways: namely, the three as previously shown, and two others: being without obscurations, and accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings. So, what is intention? In short, there are sixteen types: the intention of truly declaring, the intention of reversing desire, the intention of causing to truly uphold, the intention of truly praising, the intention of truly making joyful, the intention of introducing, the intention of cutting off doubt, the intention of causing to fully mature, the intention of causing to enter into samadhi, the intention of causing to be liberated, and the intention related to other meanings.

The intention of joyfully and supremely joyfully generating joy without fault for those who realize it, the intention of greatly increasing faith in those who listen to the speaker, the intention of entering the path of Dharma, the intention of increasing virtue, and the intention of subduing all signs. How then can one comprehend the way of that very meaning by means of the way of completely abandoning the two extremes? In short, the establishment from the truth of suffering to the truth of the path is the extreme of imputation by means of four kinds of imputation: imputation of self, imputation of permanence, imputation of purity, and imputation of happiness. These are the four inversions, and as their antidotes, the four mindfulnesses and four kinds of knowledge have been taught. By what cause does the view of self and the imputation of self arise? It is like this: it should be understood as previously explained in detail in the place of conception and examination, just as it was extensively explained there how self is not reasonable. Again, in short, since self is not found to arise from the aggregates, and from characteristics and actions, and also from being different in meaning, and since conditioned phenomena exist in a way that is not different from their characteristics, it should be understood as selflessness. Permanence itself should also be viewed in the same way as before, how it is unreasonable. The six aspects of impurity have also been extensively taught in the place of the Hearers. The three aspects of suffering have also been taught in the place of conception and examination. Among them, the extreme of denial is to hold that those truths that are established by the nature of truth are non-existent by that nature, and to completely show them as non-existent. Why is that? Because denying those truths is denying the three valid cognitions, namely direct perception, inference, and reliable testimony, as well as defilement and purification, therefore, that is the extreme of denial. One who does not deny the two extremes is one who believes in those truths.
