Because of the arising of thought, it is said that mind is the place of the consciousness of mind. Sometimes, everything arises in conjunction with only the feeling of pleasure. Sometimes it is suffering. Sometimes it is neither suffering nor pleasure. The feeling that is in conjunction with the alaya-consciousness is always neither suffering nor pleasure, and is the result of maturation. Moreover, until death, the continuum of consciousness arises, everything that is in conjunction with pleasure, in conjunction with suffering, and in conjunction with neither suffering nor pleasure, arises continuously without ceasing. Among these, the three feelings that are different from this, it should be understood that they are cultivated, not co-emergent, but arise occasionally. When the cultivated one manifests, the co-emergent one is difficult to completely cut off because it is subtle. Thus, it should be understood that what is similar to this is the way in which the common objects of the consciousnesses truly arise. Among these, the alaya-consciousness is not in conjunction with any affliction. Mind is always in conjunction with the four co-emergent afflictions, namely, the grasping at self, the view of the aggregates as a self that grasps at self, pride, and ignorance that is not mixed with attachment to self. These afflictions are not contradictory to the consciousnesses of virtue, non-virtue, and neutrality, are obscured neutrality, and are co-emergent. The different conceptualizations from this, it should be understood that they arise according to the conditions. The worldly path is not the antidote that diminishes the four co-emergent afflictions that are universally present, because they even arise in those who are free from desire. It should be understood that these afflictions arise universally even in those who are free from desire, in the place where the body is born. Why is that? Because they are general

Because the seed of peaceful consciousness arises only from (the seed of peaceful consciousness), it is not a condition of the object of the opposing side that contradicts the constant existence. Those, for detachment from worldly desire, whether the path is manifest or not, will universally arise. For the learner who sees the four truths, if the supramundane path is manifest, it will not arise. When arising from that (path), it will universally arise, because it has been thoroughly understood and not abandoned. For the non-learner, it will not universally arise in any way. It should be known that those (desires) can only be abandoned all at once by detachment from the desire for the realm of nothingness and the realm of neither perception nor non-perception. For example, it is not like gradually abandoning other afflictions. Therefore, it should be known that what is similar to that (peaceful consciousness) is the establishment of the all-pervading afflictions and the pure absorption. The treatise on the determination of the mind-endowed ground will not appear from that (treatise on the determination of the mind-endowed ground). Starting from the mindlessness ground to make determination, what are the causes of non-arising of mind? How many causes will not let the mind arise? In short, these seven are the causes of non-arising of mind, because they will not let the mind arise. What are the seven? Without conditions, the mind will not arise; without attention; without attainment; without harmony; abandonment; cessation; and even if it has arisen, the mind will not arise. How does the mind not arise without conditions? The internal source, the eye faculty, is damaged, and the external source, the form, does not appear; broadly speaking, the external source until the dharma does not appear, temporarily the eye consciousness corresponding to that (eye faculty), and the consciousness corresponding to that (eye faculty) will not arise, therefore, the mind will not arise without conditions. How does the mind not arise without attention? The internal source, the eye faculty, is not damaged, and the external source, the form, also appears; broadly speaking, the external source until the dharma has also appeared, but the attention corresponding to that (eye faculty) is close
