Due to anger, one will also completely degenerate, just like this, if someone is angry or agitated, when the eight precepts are obstructed, they will completely degenerate. For example, when non-Buddhist hermits are agitated, they will completely degenerate and even utter curses. Due to pride, one will also completely degenerate, just like this, if someone enters into samadhi, they will praise themselves and denigrate others. Due to false pride, one will also completely degenerate, just like this, if someone enters into samadhi, they possess discriminative false pride. Due to non-attention, one will also completely degenerate, just like this, if someone enters into samadhi with the form and signs of attention, but they do not pay attention. Due to unfamiliarity, one will also completely degenerate, just like this, if someone is a beginner, like a new aspect of virtue. Due to increasing one's own afflictions, one will also completely degenerate, just like this, if someone is a meditator with strong desire, or a meditator in between with strong doubt. Due to the exhaustion of lifespan, merit, and karma, one will also completely degenerate, just like this, if someone dies downwards from the state of birth. Therefore, a person with few afflictions and little virtue will degenerate with difficulty over many moments, and will enter into samadhi with difficulty over many moments. A person with few afflictions and much virtue will degenerate with difficulty over many moments, but will quickly enter into samadhi in just one moment. A person with many afflictions and little virtue will quickly degenerate in just one moment, but will enter into samadhi with difficulty over many moments. A person with many afflictions and much virtue will quickly degenerate in just one moment, and will also quickly enter into samadhi in just one moment. Therefore, for a person who has attained freedom from desire, after arising from that samadhi, sometimes they will abide in mindfulness of alternating unmixed samadhi, and sometimes they will abide in unmixed samadhi.

When arising from that samadhi due to the cause of sound, only the ear consciousness that arises together with the non-absorbed mind consciousness will arise, because that absorbed mind consciousness is not what grasps sound. Otherwise, it is unreasonable for them to arise without individually knowing, therefore, it does not arise merely by grasping sound, but if one individually knows the sound and desires it, then it will arise after that. The classification of the absorbed ground is complete, and the remaining treatises on classification do not appear. The classification of the non-absorbed ground: In terms of the nature of the non-absorbed ground, there are also those who are not absorbed, such as the five aggregates of consciousness. There are also those who are not absorbed because they are not extremely habituated, such as the mind and mental factors that operate in the desire realm. There are also those who are not absorbed because they are not born, such as those who enjoy the desire realm. There are also those who are not absorbed because they are distracted, such as the minds of beginners who are diligently practicing meditation being distracted by the five desirable qualities. There are also those who are not absorbed because they are withdrawn, such as the minds of the beginners themselves being withdrawn inward. There are also those who are not absorbed because they have not attained, such as the minds of those who are distracted. There are also those who are not absorbed because they are not complete, such as those who have not attained the ultimate yoga of mental activity. There are also those who are not absorbed because they are completely afflicted, such as those who have attained the result of ultimate yoga and are experiencing it. There are also those who are not absorbed because they are not independent, such as those whose minds have not attained freedom from affliction. There are also those who are not absorbed because they are not pure, such as those whose latent tendencies have not been completely destroyed. There are also those who are not absorbed because they have arisen from samadhi, such as those who have not fallen from the samadhi they have attained. There are also those who are not absorbed because they have completely fallen away, such as those who have completely fallen away. This is in order to abide in the mind based on the first ground of absorption, therefore it is like this, or it is for distinguishing, or for heaviness.
