One does not ask anyone, does not inquire universally, therefore, the meaning that begins with the practice of samadhi will not be understood, and from that basis, one repeatedly recollects the conceptualizations that possess arrogance, and subsequently investigates, therefore, his samadhi, from the very beginning, if it has not arisen, will not arise, and if it has arisen, it will completely degenerate. For one who is attached to desire and possesses the thought of desire, because he is very attentive to the body and enjoyments, therefore, he will be more distracted by the five external objects of desire, because of that basis, he will repeatedly recollect the conceptualizations of desire, the conceptualizations of relatives, the conceptualizations of places, and the conceptualizations of possessing family wealth, and subsequently investigates, therefore, his samadhi, from the very beginning, if it has not arisen, will not arise, and if it has arisen, it will completely degenerate. Its antidote, the contemplation of impurity, should also be known to possess three characteristics of impurity: the characteristic of impurity, and the characteristic of outflow that is of the same cause as it, and the characteristic of the complete separation of the support and the supported. Furthermore, for the view of the aggregates, when the cause grasped by the view of the aggregates encounters worldly phenomena, it will be stained by flattery and arrogance, therefore, for what should be abandoned, his view of the aggregates is not in accordance. Furthermore, when he himself is driven by the cause of worldly phenomena, namely, the continuum of craving and attachment, for what should be abandoned, his view of the aggregates is not in accordance. Furthermore, when he himself, for the non-virtuous conceptualizations that arise from the cause of worldly phenomena, is universally afflicted and variously afflicted by conceptualizations, for what should be abandoned, his view of the aggregates is not in accordance. Furthermore, when he himself seeks the cause of worldly phenomena, he will be harmed by various distractions and agitations, therefore, for what should be abandoned, his view of the aggregates is not in accordance. Furthermore, he himself

The reason for clinging to the view of the aggregates is that, regarding the abode of worldly phenomena, one takes the cause of impermanence as close, and especially clings to it, because that basis will be harmed by sorrow and so on, so for abandoning it, the view of the aggregates is not in accordance. Furthermore, when striving for virtue in order to eliminate the defilements of the lower grounds, one does not like that practice, so for abandoning that non-conforming aspect, the view of the aggregates is not in accordance. Just as eliminating the defilements of the lower grounds, so too is eliminating the defilements of the higher grounds. Because of this reason, he regards samsara as a fault, and nirvana as a virtue, although he thinks like this, the result is the opposite. Therefore, even if he obtains the first dhyana, the dhyana of realizing emptiness that has not arisen will not arise, and what has arisen will be completely lost. For those of intolerable nature, possessing intolerable thoughts, even if they obtain the dhyana of realizing emptiness, because they cannot tolerate mosquitoes and long-mouthed flies, they will abandon practice, and will also be lazy. Therefore, his dhyana when entering the actual practice, what has not arisen will not arise, and what has arisen will be completely lost. These three faults are obstacles to the first dhyana. One is an obstacle to the dhyana of realizing emptiness. One is an obstacle to the dhyana of entering the actual practice. Furthermore, these eight are also reasons for abandoning disciples, because those who have afflictions will become completely defiled by afflictions, and if they become completely defiled by afflictions, they will abandon disciples. Arhats have no afflictions, but they do not constantly maintain mindfulness. What are the eight? They are having a naturally jealous mind, only wishing that disciples serve themselves, just as they wish for service, they also wish to obtain profit and support from disciples, disciples falling, practicing bad discipline, needing to obtain benefit and harm from disciples, not
