It will become like that. Not otherwise, like that, after the mind is completely purified, there will be such power. That is the nature of Dharma, therefore it is said to be inconceivable by the path of reasoning. If two meditators who have attained mastery, using the power of magical transformation to change objects, as soon as they develop interest in one object, the magical powers of both will be obstructed. If it is not suppressed by another, more powerful magical power, then under that, for that object, one's magical power will transform as desired without obstruction, while the other's will be obstructed. What is the reason for that? Although both are similar in speed, similar in strength, similar in power, and similar in the manifestation of magical power, there is a dissimilar manifestation. Because of that dissimilar manifestation of magical power, the magical powers of the two will obstruct each other. Then, one of them will think: Why is my magical power obstructed? Have I myself completely fallen away from meditation? Or have I not become one? Thinking like this, that meditator will focus on other aspects. And the other, without distraction, repeatedly performs that manifestation of magical power, therefore, his manifestation of magical power will proceed without obstruction. For two who are unequal in power, whichever is more superior will succeed. For two who are equal in power, whichever first develops interest will succeed.

The benefits of this are as follows: to abide in comfort in this life, to contemplate the immeasurable, to manifestly accomplish worldly qualities, and one should regard it as being at the time of complete attainment, as it corresponds to the aspects of completely engaging in and definitively distinguishing manifest accomplishments. The fourth dhyana is the gateway to liberation, and it should be understood as being extremely well distinguished because it is emptiness, wishlessness, and signlessness. The attainment of non-perception should be spoken of as being combined with complete cessation in one respect. The attainment of cessation should be spoken of as being without outflows, because it is free from afflictions, not corresponding, without an object, and not produced by afflictions. The supramundane is not practiced by all ordinary beings, except for bodhisattvas who have entered the high grounds. Although bodhisattvas directly realize supramundane dharmas, they act with skillful means, but do not abandon afflictions. It should be said that it is neither learning nor non-learning, because it is without movement and similar to nirvana. The nineteenth chapter, an explanation of the Sutra on Mindfulness of the Body. O monks, the near afflictions that one enters into in order to purify the mind are four: transgression, conceptualization, manifest attachment to the body, and manifest attachment to objects. Transgression obstructs samadhi through the gate of regret. Conceptualization has three gates: the gate of distraction from laughter and play, remembering past objects; hearing of wrongdoing, hearing, speaking, and practicing; the gate of distraction from manifest joy in the mind alone; and the gate of distraction from generating the power of past habits. Manifest attachment to the body is from the gate of not being weary of samsara. Manifest attachment to objects is from the gate of manifest joy in future objects. Therefore, as an antidote to the first near affliction, one contemplation should be cultivated, namely, mindfulness with discernment. The second

As an antidote, one should cultivate three types of attention: attention to the object that is in accordance with it, attention to discerning the characteristics of its antidote by understanding its characteristics, and attention to its location and the suffering of the mind. As an antidote to the third, it is attention to thoroughly dissecting the whole. As an antidote to the fourth, it is attention to unattractiveness. If the first type of attention is fully cultivated and habituated, and practiced many times, it will be possible to abandon forgetfulness. The second type of attention will abandon the arousal of manifest attachment to the body and objects. The third type of attention will abandon distractions such as seeing faults. The fourth type of attention will abandon distractions caused by the power of previous habits. The fifth type of attention will abandon attachment to the body and the perception of it as sentient beings. The sixth type of attention will abandon the four types of desire: desire for color, touch, shape, and intimacy. Therefore, by relying on the cultivation of these attentions, it will be possible to abandon these afflictions of proximity, and to obtain meditative stabilization with preparation and actual practice, as well as to obtain purity with joy and without joy, and with extreme delight in happiness, so that the mind can also be transformed into meditative stabilization. When the mind becomes equal in this way, then one will be able to truly know the impermanence of sentient beings and the impermanence of actions. How does one truly know the impermanence of sentient beings? It is like the extensive teachings in the scriptures that state: "With a pure divine eye, surpassing the limits of human power, one can see sentient beings." How does one truly know the impermanence of actions? It comes from knowing the dependent arising of those who follow the attention that arises in the future, past, and present. Mindfulness that belongs to the body, that is, these three places, exists in the place of complete training in the discipline of higher mind and higher wisdom, and in the discipline of higher mind and the discipline of higher wisdom, because all remaining bonds have been abandoned, so it exists in the mindfulness, etc.
