and hearing, etc., when discussing with doubts, words become slander and are completely transformed into other meanings. In detail, it is like what is said in the sutras, with falsehood and deception as the main focus. So, how is it considered to have deception? Because of fear, consideration of face, or for trivial benefits, one does not speak or talk about the major faults of others, and one's heart is not truly like that. Towards the wise who behave like Brahmacharis, one treats them with false appearances, respect, and gentle actions of body and speech. So, how is it considered to have no shame and embarrassment? Relying on oneself or others, one intentionally makes mistakes due to lack of shame, and even if mistakes are made, one does not repent according to the Dharma, quarrels, exposes shortcomings, argues, and fights. So, how is it considered to have no faith? There is no faith in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and one does not believe in suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path. So, how is it considered to be lazy? Abandoning the good side, indulging in the pleasure of sleep, the pleasure of idle talk, and the pleasure of lying down, most of the time is spent during the day and night. So, how is it considered to be forgetful? One does not remember things that have been done for a long time, and words that have been spoken for a long time, and even if one wants to recall them, one cannot. One cannot guard the doors of the senses, and one cannot abide in mindfulness. So, how is it considered not to have entered into Samadhi? One does not even have the slightest thought of attaining tranquility. So, how is it considered to have wrong wisdom? One clings to one's own view as the highest, holds inconsistent views, and it is difficult to give up one's own words. So, how is it considered to be lax? One is not clever, not cautious, not diligent, and does not serve the wise who behave like Brahmacharis with one's body. So, how is it considered to have a lot? Living like a householder, mixing with monks, from the discrimination of desires, etc., to the discrimination of sinful and unwholesome thoughts, as well as the wealth of the family, etc.

For various conceptualizations with such characteristics, one should repeatedly recollect and contemplate. If asked, how does one first approach what should be accepted? For example, accepting the gains of the Sangha or an individual, such as Dharma robes. Inviting the Sangha or an individual as a guest is called something to be accepted, and monks first approach these. If asked, how does one abandon diligence in extreme solitude? One abandons remote solitary dwellings in border areas, places without wicked people, secret associations of people, and whatever is in accordance with inner abiding and conformity, keeping them far away and not even generating a desire for them. If asked, how does one lack great respect for the trainings? When impoverished, one completely abandons the trainings, but does not abandon body and life. One seeks bodily comfort and the continuation of life, but does not seek to protect the basis of the trainings. If asked, how does one not pay attention to the conduct of a renunciate? They wish to remain in a state where they have abandoned the trainings and caused them to decline, from those with immoral conduct, those with sinful qualities, those rotten inside, to those who claim to be celibate but are not. How could they pay attention to the fruits of a renunciate or the Noble Eightfold Path? If asked, how does one renounce with the thought of survival, and not with the thought of Nirvana? Because one is forced by a king to renounce, or forced by thieves, or distressed by debt, or distressed by fear, when enjoyments decline, one renounces out of fear and dread because there is no hope of survival, not in order to tame oneself, not in order to pacify oneself, not in order to completely pass into Nirvana. Therefore, the first four near afflictions should be observed and established starting from the decline of associating with those who practice pure conduct. Shamelessness and lack of embarrassment should be observed starting from the decline of higher discipline. The near afflictions from lack of faith and so on up to the ultimate point of corrupted wisdom
