For those that have arisen, those that have been completely transformed, and those that have fully entered, giving food, drink, vehicles, clothing, ornaments, houses, armies, and forests, etc., those foods and drinks, etc., are not at all separate from form, etc. And that very absence of them is neither included by conditioned phenomena nor included by unconditioned phenomena. However, for those who fully understand their own characteristics, it is not the case that consciousness focused on that does not arise. Therefore, this is the second logical statement. Or, regarding the false view that denigrates everything, such as the extensively explained "there is no giving, no offering, no sacrifice," if the very absence of desire and sacrifice, etc., is truly existent, then the person who holds such a view would not become a false viewer. In this way, he would become a correct viewer and a correct speaker. If it does not exist, then the consciousness of those with false views would not arise focused on that, but if it does arise, then that is the third logical statement. Furthermore, in all conditioned phenomena, there is no permanence, no stability, and no constancy. That very absence of permanence, stability, or constancy in all conditioned phenomena is neither included by conditioned phenomena nor included by unconditioned phenomena. However, for those who fully understand by means of general characteristics, it is not the case that consciousness focused on that does not arise. If consciousness focused on that does not arise at all in all cases, then for those who have not truly and correctly seen with wisdom that there is no permanence, stability, or constancy in all conditioned phenomena, refuge, detachment, and liberation will not arise. If there is no liberation, then there will also be no passing into nirvana without grasping. In that way, the afflictions of all sentient beings would be perpetually connected, but if they are not connected, then this is the fourth logical statement.

Moreover, if the arising itself of future conditioned phenomena does not exist even for a moment, how can one possibly think there is cessation? Furthermore, noble Śrāvakas do not abide by observing the arising and ceasing of future conditioned phenomena. Thus, this is the fifth logical statement. Therefore, it should be understood that the object of that which has no consciousness is only existence. It should be known that there are other similar logical statements that perfectly establish the object of that which has no consciousness. What is the meaning of what the Blessed One said, 'Past actions exist; if past actions did not exist, then some would not experience feelings with harm and without harm'? It is with the intention that in past lives, virtuous and non-virtuous actions were generated and ceased, so that in later lives, desired and undesired results are manifestly accomplished, and their seeds fully grasp and fully imbue the later stream of conditioned phenomena. Therefore, the Blessed One fully revealed that past actions exist. Thus, those who claim that dissimilar things are the cause, such as Īśvara, Indra, Brahmā, Prakṛti, Puruṣa, etc., and who view and proclaim that the virtues and non-virtues of sentient beings arise from these, their views are refuted. And those who claim that all things in all cases are without cause, and who view and proclaim that the virtues and non-virtues of sentient beings arise without cause, their views are refuted. The Blessed One fully revealed this by considering the two aspects of meaning. The Blessed One said, 'Past conditioned phenomena exist, but noble Śrāvakas who possess learning abide without observing them. Future conditioned phenomena also exist, but noble Śrāvakas who possess learning abide without being manifestly delighted in them.' What is the meaning of this? Past conditioned phenomena exist because they have produced results, and future conditioned phenomena exist because they fully grasp the cause. Thus, present conditioned phenomena are fully distinguished by three characteristics: the object of the results of the past, the object of the cause of the future, and the continuity of their own characteristics.
