It is like whatever behavior such as desire and so on. Among them, being completely deluded due to not understanding is like some people being completely deluded about the meaning of the Dharma because they have not heard, have not thought, and have not meditated. Among them, being completely deluded about the directly perceived is like some people clearly and truly seeing the impermanence of all conditioned things, yet clinging to them as permanent; clearly and truly seeing suffering, yet clinging to it as happiness; clearly and truly seeing impurity, yet clinging to it as purity; clearly and truly seeing selflessness, yet clinging to it as self; clearly and truly seeing the nature of sickness, the nature of aging, and the nature of death, yet clinging to it as happiness, clinging to it as harmless. Furthermore, ignorance is the obscuration of five states, namely, ignorance obscures the attainment of true wisdom, obscures the attainment of the cessation of afflictions, obscures the complete accomplishment of the noble path, obscures going to the good realms, and obscures the perfection of this life for worldly people. What is the nature of ignorance? Ignorance refers to what kind of ignorance is associated with being called delusion? There are also those who are not obscured by ignorance, who do not have the stain of ignorance, and who are not controlled by ignorance. It is like being associated with latent ignorance. There are also those who are deluded, are obscured by ignorance, but do not have the stain of ignorance, and are not controlled by ignorance, like being associated with ignorance belonging to pervasive entanglement. There are also those who are deluded, are obscured by ignorance, have the stain of ignorance, but are not controlled by ignorance, like being associated with ignorance that arises from the cause of ignorance, which initiates sinful and unwholesome actions, because it is the reason for feeling ashamed after initiating actions and doing wrong. There are also those who are deluded, are obscured by ignorance, have the stain of ignorance, and are controlled by ignorance.

There is also, for example, the sinful and unwholesome actions arising from the cause of ignorance, which, having been fully initiated and committed as misdeeds, do not cause shame. In that case, ignorance is foolish in three ways, but one should not be called an idiot. Ultimately, one can also be called an idiot. Ignorance also has the nature of darkness, such as acting in desire. It also has the nature of darkness, such as acting in form. It also has the nature of dimness, such as acting in the formless. If asked what are the cause and effect of ignorance? It is said: The cause is to be regarded as it is shown on the basis of the earth. The effect is all the limbs of existence. Furthermore, not understanding the meaning of suchness and truth, and doubting suchness itself, or wrongly determining impermanence etc. as inverted, and clinging to appearances, or because of manifest pride, or because of belittling oneself, or slandering the truth, or fabricating. The discourse on the classification of the remaining limbs of existence is non-existent. In this regard, the Blessed One said that the cause of the arising of eye consciousness is the eye, and the condition is forms, from this to the cause of the arising of body consciousness is the body, and the condition is tactile objects, and what was said that the condition of contact is feeling, and what was said that the cause of the arising of consciousness that arises with it is the attention that arises with it. When the eye etc. are not the cause of the arising of eye consciousness etc., and contact is not the cause of the arising of feeling, and the attention that arises with it is not the cause of the arising of consciousness that arises with it, just as those own seeds are the cause of arising. Why are the eye etc. as stated the cause of eye consciousness etc. as stated? It is said from the perspective of the cause that arises together, gathers in one place, and produces an effect, not manifestly acting.

It is not the cause of arising, but like this, relying on the sense faculties such as the eye that arise together, the consciousness of the eye and so on enters that object, and if it does not rely on it, it does not enter. Similarly, relying on the touch that arises together, all feelings arise, and if it does not rely on it, it does not arise. Similarly, relying on that and the arising attention that arise together, that and the arising consciousness arise, and if it does not rely on it, it does not arise. Thus, the Blessed One in all places considered that arising together is the place of gathering, is the cause of arising, and said so, not the cause of manifestation or the cause of cyclic existence. Why is that? Like this, when the eye ceases, it cannot perform the function of the place where eye consciousness arises, and the remaining ones such as the ear are the same. When touch ceases, it cannot perform the function of the place where feeling arises. When that and the arising attention cease, it cannot perform the function of the place where that and the arising consciousness arise. Furthermore, the order of the limbs of dependent origination, in short, should be understood in four ways, namely: the order of throwing, the order of manifestation, the order of fully enjoying the object, and the order of fully experiencing suffering. Among them, ignorance conditions karmic formations, karmic formations condition consciousness, this is called the order of throwing. Among them, consciousness conditions name and form, name and form condition the six sense sources, this is called the order of manifestation. Among them, the six sense sources condition touch, touch conditions feeling, this is called the order of fully enjoying the object of manifestation. Among them, feeling conditions craving, craving conditions grasping, grasping conditions existence, existence conditions birth, birth conditions aging and death, this is called the order of fully experiencing suffering.
