Therefore, regarding the thought of "this has been my enemy for a long time," if there is no concept of an enemy, and whatever causes hatred to arise from suffering, that should be said to be harmful intent arising from attachment. Having become someone with the concept of an enemy due to being influenced by the nine things that torment the mind, and thereby generating thoughts of tormenting the mind, that should be said to be harmful intent arising from hatred. If these people, or other ascetics and Brahmins, revile the views of others, and generate thoughts of tormenting the mind towards those views and the ascetics and Brahmins who hold those views, that should be said to be harmful intent arising from ignorance. If someone widely holds the view that "there is no giving," and so on, and does so in order to receive reverence from kings and others, and to obtain robes and other items, that should be said to be wrong view arising from attachment. If my enemies think in this way, thinking, "there is giving, there is sacrifice," and widely hold such views, thinking that those who hold the same views as my enemies are not my people, and therefore, out of hatred for them, widely hold the view that "there is no giving, there is no suffering," that should be said to be wrong view arising from hatred. If, through irrational understanding, one incorrectly thinks, measures, and examines the Dharma, and holds such a view, that should be said to be wrong view arising from ignorance. Therefore, killing is initiated by all three (greed, hatred, and ignorance), and ultimately completed by hatred. Just as with killing, so too are harsh speech and harmful intent. Taking what is not given is initiated by all three (greed, hatred, and ignorance), but ultimately completed only by greed. Just as with taking what is not given, so too are sexual misconduct and covetousness. All others except wrong view should be seen as being initiated and completed by all three (greed, hatred, and ignorance). Wrong view is initiated by all three (greed, hatred, and ignorance), but ultimately completed only by ignorance.

In this regard, it should be understood that killing, sexual misconduct, lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, and malicious thoughts are dependent on sentient beings. Taking what is not given and covetousness should be understood as dependent on possessions. Frivolous talk should be understood as dependent on the collection of names. Wrong view should be understood as dependent on formations. Furthermore, the unwholesomeness of these paths of unwholesome actions becomes completely perfect through three causes. What are the three? They are the fault of intrinsic nature, the fault of the basis, and the fault of defilement. Among them, all that is associated with killing, and so forth, up to and including wrong view, is called being tainted by the fault of intrinsic nature because it is of the nature of affliction and is unwholesome. If it arises from being completely enveloped by attachment, or arises from being completely enveloped by hatred and delusion, this is also tainted by the fault of the basis, and is extremely unwholesome, and the result is also extremely undesirable. If it reaches the ultimate, this is also tainted by the fault of defilement, and is extremely unwholesome, and the result is also extremely undesirable. Why is that? For example, if someone, with an afflicted mind, causes others unpleasant, unlovely, displeasing, and disagreeable suffering, then by the power of that suffering mind, the mind of the person who causes suffering is touched by a very great offense, and that is called the fault of defilement. In this regard, even if there is no manifest intention of thinking, "May whoever causes me suffering be touched by offense," this is the nature of things, and it will be touched. For example, even if a lodestone does not think, "Iron, it would be good if you came to me," this is the nature of things, and the iron near it will go to the lodestone without any manifest intention. Likewise, here also

We should observe it in that way. The example of the flint should also be understood in that way. For that mind, no other dharma called "near application" that arises from its power enters, but it should be understood that only the change of that mind is transformed by its power. For example, the hardness, wetness, warmth, and lightness and movement of the four great elements produced by the power of karma, although they are not different from the four great elements themselves, they are only the four great elements that have changed in this way, and this should be understood as the cause of karma. Just as the cause of karma is, so should the cause of manifestation and action with magical powers be observed. For example, the demon transforms the minds of the Brahmins and householders of the city of Sala in such a way that they hold wrong views towards the Bhagavan in some way, although they do not add any additional dharma of "transforming the mind," the changes in those minds should be regarded as merely arising from the power of the demon's manifestation and action. This should also be understood in the same way. Therefore, what is said as "karma has been done, and has been accumulated" and "the five heavy sins make karma heavy" should be said to be definitely experienced. The opposite of this is what is not necessarily experienced. This can be divided into definite ripening, definite time, and definite both. Among them, the non-virtuous karma of the Arhat will definitely be experienced, which was done in past lives, when he was still an ordinary being, at that time, only a slight suffering or discomfort came, and it should be said that its fruition has matured. Because of the change of circumstances, and the complete destruction of the seed of ripening, then all of these will not be experienced. Why? Because this karma that will definitely be experienced is from the mind stream of the Bhagavan that has not been liberated
