Pho! Although they are born, few beings truly understand that they are destined to fall under the sway of old age and death. Furthermore, like this: The impurity of lifespan, the impurity of beings, the impurity of afflictions, the impurity of views, and the impurity of time. Based on these five impurities, the time when the world of beings itself is heavily impure, the time when it is without impurity, and the time when it is lightly impure are all thoroughly understood as they are. For example, people now have short lifespans, and even those who live long only reach a hundred years. For example, most beings now do not respect their parents, do not respect ascetics, do not respect Brahmins, do not serve the leaders of their lineage, do not do meaningful things, do not follow the rules of conduct, do not fear the faults of this life and the next, do not give charity, do not perform meritorious deeds, do not associate with practitioners, and do not strictly observe moral discipline. For example, now most are attached to unlawful things, attached through discord, holding weapons, holding sticks, fighting, exposing faults, arguing, contending, deceiving, seducing, being unruly, lying, and various sinful and unwholesome dharmas belonging to the actions of the hand appear. For example, now the sacred Dharma is about to be destroyed, the sacred Dharma is about to be obscured, and many false dharmas disguised as the sacred Dharma, with the examination of false doctrines as their precursor, are arising. For example, now the intermediate kalpa of famine is approaching, and famine is mostly appearing. The intermediate kalpa of disease is also approaching, and diseases are mostly appearing. The intermediate kalpa of weapons is also approaching, and killings caused by weapons are mostly appearing, something that has never happened before. Thus, a Bodhisattva, starting from the world of beings, understands the world. Furthermore, a Bodhisattva regarding the world of containers

and its destruction and formation, and how the vessel world is destroyed and formed, he knows perfectly as it is. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva knows perfectly as it is the world, the origin of the world, the cessation of the world, the path that leads to the origin of the world, the path that leads to the cessation of the world, the taste of the world, its faults, and its escape. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva understands that between the eye and the mind, and the non-material aggregates, and what is made of the four great elements is the human body, and that is what is called a human being. Whatever concept is called self or sentient being is only a concept. Whatever assertion is made that "I see forms with my eyes and know dharmas with my mind" is only an assertion. Whatever designation is made, such as "This long-lived one is called by this name, belongs to this lineage, belongs to this family, eats such food, experiences such pleasure and pain, has such a long life, stays for such a long time, and the end of life is such and such," all these designations are only designations, and he knows everything perfectly as it is. Thus, the Bodhisattva knows perfectly as it is the entry of the sentient world, the entry of the vessel world, the eight meanings of the eternal world, and the ultimate truth of the world, and therefore he is called the Knower of the World. Furthermore, when a Bodhisattva sees someone who is very old or highly distinguished in qualities, he speaks well and courteously, rises and offers a seat, speaks respectfully, prostrates, stands up, joins his palms, and bows. Or, if he sees someone who is equal in age and qualities, he speaks kindly and gently, converses with them, and rejoices, but does not rely on pride to compare himself with them. Or, if he sees someone who is lower in age and qualities, he strives to increase his own qualities.

He makes them happy as much as he can. He speaks of even the smallest of their true qualities. He conceals the true faults that could harm them, and does not proclaim them. He does not despise them. Even if he wants some Dharma or wealth, he knows this and avoids making a frown. He does not mock their mistakes. He does not despise the inferior. Likewise, to all beings who are inferior, equal, and especially superior, he speaks frankly, saying, "Come here! Welcome!" and makes them rest well, and truly helps them with Dharma and wealth as much as he can. He does not make beings have false and unstable emotions. He does not become arrogant even with just a few differences in learning. Just as he gathers beings, whether they are sick or ordinary, he does not abandon them with actions of body and speech that are in accordance with all necessities. Just as he treats those who are familiar, he treats those who are unfamiliar in the same way. He associates with everyone as a friend, as if there were no opponents. He does whatever he can for all beings who are without protectors and without support. Even if they are slightly uncomfortable, he thinks, "How can this be?" and does not cause suffering and displeasure to others in any way. Even if he stays and laughs because of them, he laughs appropriately, not laughing endlessly. He does not speak words that would separate the gatherings of friends who are faultless and extremely trustworthy. He also does not get angry with others for a long time. Even if he gets angry, he does not proclaim the faults of others. Even if others despise him with body and speech, he examines them separately and either shows them their Dharma nature or considers it to be his own karmic result. His mind is stable and not rough. The actions of body, speech, and mind are stable. He is free from the fourteen limits of defiled actions and is covered by the six directions. He has abandoned the four evil friends. He is completely held by the four virtuous friends. All of these
