The ground and aspiration, and also meditation, should be known as three. The sutra of Dharma is four kinds. Among them, what are the shame and embarrassment of Bodhisattvas? That, if briefly stated, should be known as two kinds, namely nature and place. When a Bodhisattva universally engages in transgressions, the shame that arises from knowing that it is not a part of oneself is shame. On top of that, the shame that arises from fearing others and being respectful is embarrassment. If the Bodhisattva's shame is predominantly by nature, then habit goes without saying. The nature of the Bodhisattva's shame and embarrassment should be known to be like that. If the place is briefly stated, there are four kinds: the shame that arises from not striving in the activities of a Bodhisattva is the first place. Similarly, the shame that arises from striving in activities that are not those of a Bodhisattva is the second place. Similarly, the shame that arises from concealing the sins of the Bodhisattva himself is the third place. Similarly, the shame that arises from the Bodhisattva's own desire arising, together with its manifestation, incidentally, is the fourth place; the place should be known to be like that. Among them, what is the generation of the Bodhisattva's steadfast strength? That should also be regarded as two kinds, namely nature and place. Subduing the afflicted mind, not being swayed by afflictions, having the attitude of enduring suffering, and even when various unpleasant fears and terrors manifest, not wavering from correct practice, or naturally possessing courage, or being steadfast through discriminating observation, this should be known as the nature of the generation of steadfast strength. If the place of the Bodhisattva's generation of steadfast strength is briefly stated, it should be known to be five kinds: encountering various sufferings of samsara, and various wrongdoings arising from transformation of discipline, and vowing to remain in samsara for the sake of benefiting beings for a long time, and even when opponents from other sides cause disturbance, teaching the Dharma in the midst of a large retinue,

Therefore, having promised all the grounds of learning of a Bodhisattva, listening to the vast and profound Dharma should be known as the fifth place. Here, all the true practices of Bodhisattvas should be known as not being completely weary due to five causes. Here, a Bodhisattva is naturally endowed with strength, therefore he will not be completely weary. Also, he has repeatedly familiarized himself with that very mind that is not completely weary, therefore he will not be completely weary. Also, he possesses diligence that is completely seized by skillful means, therefore he sees the difference between before and after correctly, and will not be completely weary. He possesses the powerful strength of discriminating with wisdom, therefore he will not be completely weary. Towards sentient beings, that Bodhisattva's mind of compassion and mind of loving-kindness abide strongly, constantly, and uninterruptedly, therefore he will not be completely weary. So, what is the Bodhisattva's knowledge of treatises? Here, a Bodhisattva, starting from the five places of knowledge, is good at grasping the Dharma that possesses collections of names, collections of sentences, and collections of letters, and is good at understanding the meaning of words. The meaning of the Dharma is also good at hearing from others. Or, he himself is good at thinking and good at observing. Thus, a Bodhisattva knows the Dharma and knows the meaning, and in order not to forget the Dharma and the meaning, and in order to gradually increase the understanding of the differences between the Dharma and the meaning, he does not abandon practice. Through the ultimate of hearing and thinking, he also obtains faith that the Dharma and the meaning will be fully matured at other times. In these ways, the Bodhisattva's knowledge of treatises should be known as limitless, complete, and non-inverted. So, what is the Bodhisattva's knowledge of the world? Here, a Bodhisattva, starting from the world of sentient beings, thoroughly understands as it is, alas! This world has fallen into distress, thus it is born and born, ages and ages, dies and dies, and dies after death.
