Thinking about dependent arising, and as an antidote to conceptualization, practicing mindfulness of exhaling and inhaling, and as an antidote to pride, practicing the differentiation of elements, and such things that are in accordance with these, this is called the appropriate diligence of a Bodhisattva. Thus, in order to keep the mind in the precepts and subsequent teachings, a Bodhisattva who is a beginner does not have the initial diligence, but rather familiarizes himself with the application, and this familiarization with the application is called the diligence of familiarization of a Bodhisattva. A Bodhisattva, starting from keeping the mind in the precepts and subsequent teachings, does not familiarize himself with the application, and although the Bodhisattva is a beginner, in order to always practice with reverence, practicing the application without distraction, this is called the non-distracted diligence of a Bodhisattva. Furthermore, a Bodhisattva, from the teachers, or by increasing the power of much learning by himself, grasping in a non-mistaken way, in order to keep the mind, initiating diligence, this is called the well-grasped diligence of a Bodhisattva. Furthermore, a Bodhisattva, having grasped correctly in this way, at the time of tranquility, practices tranquility, at the time of superior seeing, he sees the mind superiorly, at the time of equanimity, he practices equanimity, this is called the diligence of diligence at that time. Furthermore, a Bodhisattva knows the characteristics of tranquility, superior seeing, and equanimity, as well as the characteristics of entering into samadhi, abiding in samadhi, and arising from samadhi, and in order not to forget and to realize, he always acts and acts with reverence, this is called the diligence of realizing the characteristics of a Bodhisattva. Furthermore, when a Bodhisattva hears that the diligence initiated by the Bodhisattvas is extremely vast, extremely profound, inconceivable, and immeasurable, he does not belittle himself, nor does he make his mind timid, nor does he consider it sufficient to have only obtained a small difference and a bad meaning, this is not being lazy in further progress, this is the undaunted diligence of a Bodhisattva.

Earth Mother! Furthermore, Bodhisattvas constantly guard the doors of their senses, are mindful of the measure of their food, do not sleep during the upper and lower parts of the night but diligently follow, abide in mindfulness, and properly take up the assemblies of samadhi that are in accordance with this. They abide and diligently engage in them, and exert effort in all matters that are in accordance with the non-perverted meaning. This is called the Bodhisattva's unabandoning diligence. Moreover, Bodhisattvas neither become too discouraged nor too hasty, but engage in diligence, harmonize their actions, and equally respect all that is to be done. This is called the Bodhisattva's balanced diligence. Furthermore, Bodhisattvas generate diligence and dedicate all manifest actions to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. This is called the Bodhisattva's genuine dedication diligence. The diligence of Bodhisattvas, from the nature of diligence up to the diligence of purification, is the source from which the fruit of great enlightenment arises. Relying on this, Bodhisattvas perfect the perfection of diligence and realize the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. They will realize perfectly complete enlightenment. They will realize perfectly complete enlightenment. The Bodhisattva's Chapter on Diligence from the Place of the Foundation Yoga, the twelfth chapter, is complete. The summary should be understood as before. What is the nature of the meditation of the Bodhisattvas? The one-pointed mind of Bodhisattvas who have hearing and thinking of the Bodhisattva's teachings as a preliminary, whether it is worldly or transworldly, the virtuous mind abiding in the aspect of calm abiding, or the aspect of insight, or the path of integrating the two, whichever of these two aspects it is, this should be known as the nature of the meditation of the Bodhisattvas. What are all the meditations of the Bodhisattvas? This should be known as twofold:

What is relied upon is both mundane and supramundane. These can be understood as threefold according to their types: meditation for dwelling in bliss in this life, meditation for accomplishing the qualities of a Bodhisattva's samadhi, and meditation for benefiting sentient beings. Among these, the meditation of Bodhisattvas is that which is free from all conceptualizations, generates extreme pliancy of body and mind, is supremely peaceful, free from pride, without tasting (of meditative flavor), and free from all characteristics. This should be understood as their meditation for dwelling in bliss in this life. Among these, the meditation of Bodhisattvas is that which accomplishes various inconceivable and immeasurable samadhis included in the categories of the ten powers, and those samadhis whose names are not even known by Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, let alone entering into them. The qualities of Bodhisattvas such as liberation, the spheres of mastery, the spheres of totality, individual correct knowledge, freedom from afflictions, and wish-fulfilling knowledge, enable Shravakas and common individuals to achieve manifest accomplishment. This should be understood as the Bodhisattva's meditation for accomplishing the qualities of samadhi. The Bodhisattva's meditation for benefiting sentient beings is elevenfold, and should be understood as before. Relying on which meditation? Bodhisattvas assist as friends in meaningful activities for sentient beings, dispel the suffering of suffering sentient beings, teach according to reason, repay kindness and are mindful of kindness, reciprocate benefit to those who benefit, protect from fears, dispel the sorrow of those dwelling in suffering, provide resources to those without resources, gather a virtuous retinue, act in accordance with their minds, delight them with virtuous qualities, discipline them well, terrify them with miracles, and make them believe. In short, all of these combined are called all the meditations of Bodhisattvas.
