Or, one should not charge fees for planting grass or planting leaves. There are seven ways to fully uphold the Dharma: making offerings to the Three Jewels, performing service and making offerings, making offerings to the guru, performing service, upholding the teachings, extensively explaining what has been upheld to others, secretly praising and reciting, dwelling alone in solitude, truly contemplating and closely examining by measuring, and cultivating calm abiding and insight embraced by yogic attention. When a bodhisattva strives in these seven ways of fully upholding the Dharma, they accept whatever suffering arises, and they do not abandon diligence because of it. Living by begging should also be understood in seven ways: because one has abandoned the marks of a householder, one practices an unattractive appearance by shaving hair and beard, etc.; because one wears patched clothes and holds bad colors, one practices bad colors; because one dwells having abandoned all worldly conduct, one does other things; having completely abandoned the ends of work such as farming, in order to live by what is obtained from others, one becomes a dependent liver; not accumulating and enjoying what is obtained, until the end of life, seeking Dharma robes, etc. from others; because one has abandoned non-celibacy, i.e., sexual conduct, until the end of life, one turns away from human desires; having abandoned watching plays, dances, laughter, coquetry, etc., and having abandoned friends, loved ones, young friends, joking, playing, joy, and various pleasures, until the end of life, one turns away from human pleasures and games. Like that, relying on fearful and harmful begging conduct, even if suffering arises, the bodhisattva accepts it, and does not abandon diligence because of it. When a bodhisattva is manifestly diligent in the direction of virtue, whatever sources of fatigue arise, such as physical exhaustion and mental disturbance, the bodhisattva does not abandon diligence because of it. The work of benefiting sentient beings is as before.

It should be recognized as elevenfold. The Bodhisattva also accepts the suffering arising from that basis, but does not abandon diligence because of it. Temporary activities include the Dharma robes of the ordained and the activities of the alms bowl, etc. The activities of householders include righteous farming, business, and serving the king, etc. The Bodhisattva also accepts the suffering arising from that basis, but does not abandon diligence because of it. The Bodhisattva, no matter what suffering arises, only uses it as a means to enter the unsurpassed, perfectly complete, and fully enlightened Bodhi, and will not fail to enter, nor will he turn back after entering, nor will he be displeased, and enters with a non-afflicted mind. This is called his endurance of suffering. So, what is the Bodhisattva's belief and acceptance of endurance with firm thought on the Dharma? Here, the Bodhisattva, with a mind that thoroughly distinguishes and deeply investigates the true Dharma, is very firmly established in the eight places of belief, namely, the qualities of the Three Jewels, the meaning of that alone, the great power of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, cause and effect, the meaning to be attained by oneself, the means to attain it, and the object of knowledge. This belief is also well established through two causes: long-term habituation and the perfect attainment of extremely pure knowledge. This is all the endurance of the Bodhisattvas that relies on two aspects. Relying on it, the difficult endurance of the Bodhisattvas, etc., can be widely distinguished. So, what is the Bodhisattva's difficult endurance? It should be viewed in three ways. Here, the Bodhisattva endures the harm done by weak sentient beings; this is the first difficult endurance. Enduring those who have become lords or masters is the second difficult endurance. Enduring the great harm done by sentient beings of extremely low caste and lineage is the third difficult endurance. Regarding this
