Therefore, one should not listen to the Dharma that possesses the Hearer Vehicle, should not uphold it, and should not train in it. What is the use of a Bodhisattva listening to the Dharma that possesses the Hearer Vehicle and upholding it? There is no need to train in it. If one sees and speaks in this way, it becomes a fault, becomes contradictory, and becomes a fault of affliction. Thus, a Bodhisattva must also diligently study the treatises of non-Buddhists, let alone the scriptures of the Buddha. There is no fault in order to dispel the intention of exclusively determining and clinging to it. A Bodhisattva possesses the treasury of the Bodhisattva, and if one does not diligently study the treasury of the Bodhisattva, but abandons all of the treasury of the Bodhisattva, and diligently studies the treasury of the Hearers, it becomes a fault, becomes contradictory, and becomes a fault of affliction. A Bodhisattva possesses the scriptures of the Buddha, and if one does not diligently study the scriptures of the Buddha, but diligently studies the treatises of non-Buddhists, the treatises of outsiders, etc., it becomes a fault, becomes contradictory, and becomes a fault of affliction. If one is extremely gentle, quick-witted, able to remember for a long time without forgetting, able to contemplate the meaning, able to realize, and possesses unwavering intelligence by understanding the scriptures of the Buddha with wisdom, then on top of that, diligently studying the scriptures of the Buddha twice as much as in a single day, there is no fault. When a Bodhisattva is skilled in the treatises of non-Buddhists, the treatises of outsiders, etc., without contradicting such principles, if one acts with an appearance of manifest joy, and clings to it with joy, and is pleased with it, and does not act like taking hot medicine, it becomes a fault, becomes contradictory, and becomes a fault of affliction. A Bodhisattva, from the treasury of the Bodhisattva, only for this meaning, or arising from the power of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, after hearing the profound, extremely profound places, does not believe and slanders, saying: These are not meaningful.

If it is said: 'It is not in accordance with the Dharma, it was not spoken by the Tathagata, it is of no benefit or happiness to sentient beings.' Whether it is because one's own mind is not properly applied, or because one follows others and engages in slander, then it is sinful, it is a transgression, it is a defiled sin. When a Bodhisattva hears of a profound and extremely profound place, if the mind believes and understands, the Bodhisattva should learn with faith and unwaveringness, saying: 'I am now blind, without eyes, I should only follow the eyes of the Tathagata, and what the Tathagata has permitted, but I abandon, is not my share.' Thus, the Bodhisattva regards himself as ignorant, and the Tathagata truly has no concealment in those dharmas and observes them well, thus it is a good entry. Even if there is no faith or understanding at all, but one does not slander, then there is no sin. If a Bodhisattva, with a defiled mind and an angry mind, praises himself and slanders others, then it is sinful, it is a transgression, it is a defiled sin. In order to make the Holy Dharma abide long, if one wishes to subdue the heretics, then there is no sin. If one wishes to subdue that individual by this means, then there is also no sin. The detailed explanation is as before. If one acts in order to make the unbelievers believe, and to increase and expand the believers, then there is no sin. When a Bodhisattva proclaims the Dharma, and when he makes a good decision with words full of the Holy Dharma, if he is subdued by arrogance, and with a mind of pervasive suffering, and with a mind of anger, and does not go, then it is sinful, it is a transgression, it is a defiled sin. If one does not go because of laziness and sloth, then it is a non-defiled sin. If one is tired, then there is no sin. If one is sick and cannot, then there is no sin. If one fears to proclaim it in a reversed way, then there is no sin. If one protects the mind of the Dharma speaker, then there is no sin. If one knows that it is a word of meaning that has been heard, received, and understood many times, then there is no sin. Much hearing.
