The compassionate one, in accordance with the minds of others, neither relies entirely on them, nor relies excessively, nor relies at inappropriate times. He does not slander friends in their presence, nor does he praise those who are unfriendly. He does not trust those who are unfamiliar, nor does he beg frequently, and when accepting, he knows moderation. When invited to food and drink, etc., he does not refuse. Or he cleanses in a manner that accords with the Dharma. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva, with the discipline that makes beings truly happy, makes them truly happy with genuine qualities. To those who possess the qualities of faith, he makes them truly happy with words related to the qualities of faith. To those who possess the qualities of discipline, he makes them truly happy with words related to the qualities of discipline. To those who possess the qualities of learning, he makes them truly happy with words related to the qualities of learning. To those who possess the qualities of generosity, he makes them truly happy with words related to the qualities of generosity. To those who possess the qualities of wisdom, he makes them truly happy with words related to the qualities of wisdom. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva disciplines beings with the discipline of subduing. For small faults and small transgressions, with a gentle mind and without hatred, he rebukes with small rebukes. For medium faults and medium transgressions, he rebukes with medium rebukes. For large faults and large transgressions, he rebukes with large rebukes. Just as the rebuke is, the punishment meted out should also be understood to be the same. For small and medium faults, and small and medium transgressions, the Bodhisattva, in order to guide them and others well, with a heart of compassion and a mind of benefit, in order to make them turn back, temporarily expels them in a certain way. For large faults and large transgressions, because he has compassion for them, in order to make them understand, so that they do not accumulate more non-virtue,

And, in order to benefit others as well, in order to teach well, from now on, one should not associate with them, should not enjoy them, and should expel them in such a way that they will not be recalled until the end of their lives. Furthermore, Bodhisattvas, desiring to frighten sentient beings with their power of miracles, desiring to please them, show the ripening results of their misdeeds to sentient beings who behave improperly, such as beings in the lower realms, hells, as well as great hell beings, cold hell beings, and nearby hell beings. They exhort and show them, saying: Look, those who have been reborn as humans, who have committed and accumulated misdeeds, experience unbearable and extremely hot suffering as the ripening of unpleasant results. When they see this, they become frightened and disgusted, and thus abandon their misdeeds. Some sentient beings, in the midst of the Bodhisattva's great retinue, attempt to defame by asking questions, wanting to speak disrespectfully. To these, the Bodhisattva will manifest as Vajrapani, or any Yaksha who is dark in color, tall in stature, and immensely powerful, causing them to be frightened. Because of this, they will develop faith and cherish it, and to those who become respectful, only excellent answers will be given. This is in order to tame the many people who ask questions and receive answers individually. Alternatively, various miraculous transformations are shown, such as: transforming from one into many, and from many into one, passing directly through walls, passing directly through mountains, passing directly through fences, passing through without any obstruction of the body, even to the extent that the body can freely reach the vast realm of Brahma. One can also enter into the fire element samadhi, showing the miracle of flames. Or, by demonstrating the miraculous powers common to the Shravakas, they are pleased, satisfied, and made very happy. Thus, those who lack faith are established in perfect faith, and those who have broken their vows are established in perfect discipline.

Now begin. Little learning leads to abundant learning, miserliness leads to abundant giving, and wrong wisdom leads to abundant wisdom. Therefore, all Bodhisattvas should be endowed with the precepts of benefiting sentient beings. The three aggregates of precepts of a Bodhisattva, namely, the precepts of restraining discipline, the precepts of accumulating virtue, and the precepts of benefiting sentient beings, are immeasurable accumulations of merit. Therefore, householder or ordained Bodhisattvas who wish to learn the Bodhisattva's training, namely, these three aggregates of precepts, and who have made aspirations to attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, then, for those who are in accordance with the Dharma of the Bodhisattva's aspirations, who are skilled in taking vows, who can understand the meaning of verbal expressions, and who are able to understand, such Bodhisattvas should first prostrate to their feet and then pray, saying: 'I, son of good family, wish to properly receive the Bodhisattva's precepts of discipline from you. If there is no hindrance, please listen a little and grant it for the sake of your compassion for me.' It should be said in this way. Then, the capable Bodhisattva, for the one who desires the Bodhisattva's precepts, extensively speaks of the benefits of the Bodhisattva's precepts, and also speaks of the light and heavy objects of study to the one who desires the precepts, and also generates joy, and should say: 'Son of good family, listen. Do you wish to liberate those sentient beings who have not been liberated, to free those who have not been freed, to bring forth those who have not departed, to cause those who have not attained Nirvana to attain Nirvana, and to not interrupt the lineage of the Buddha?' To this, you must strengthen your Bodhicitta and also strengthen your Yidam.' In this way, seeing those who do not understand the situation, in order to generate joy, it should be said in this way. Then, the one who desires it respectfully prays, bares one shoulder, and then (says) the past and
