will be gathered, and all kinds will also be gathered, like this: gathered by the five aspects of the vicinity of generosity, the vicinity of ethics, the vicinity of patience, the vicinity of diligence, the vicinity of meditation, and wisdom. Furthermore, Bodhisattvas abide in all kinds of precepts for the benefit of sentient beings in eleven ways, and each way possesses the characteristics of all ways. Here, when Bodhisattvas go as friends to those various tasks of sentient beings, they assist in thinking about tasks, determining tasks, going and coming on the road, leading tasks to the correct end, protecting possessions, reconciling various tasks, and providing assistance in celebrations and meritorious activities. Furthermore, Bodhisattvas also act as friends to those who are suffering. They nurse sentient beings who are afflicted with illness. They lead the blind and show them the way. For the deaf, they make them understand the meaning through gestures by showing the signs of names. For those without hands and feet, they carry them by lifting them with their heads or with riding animals. For those sentient beings who are tormented by the desire for sensual pleasures, they eliminate the suffering of being tormented by the desire for sensual pleasures. For those sentient beings who are tormented by afflictions such as malice, lethargy, sleep, agitation, regret, and doubt, they eliminate the torment of doubt. For those sentient beings who are tormented by thoughts of desire, they eliminate the thoughts of desire. Just as with thoughts of desire, thoughts of malice, harm, relatives, people of the place, immortality, and thoughts of possessing special talents and family wealth should also be understood to be similar. For those sentient beings who are suffering from the pain of being humiliated and defeated by others, they eliminate the pain of being humiliated and defeated by others. For those who have become weary from the road, they provide lodging and seats, and they eliminate the suffering of fatigue by massaging the body. Furthermore, the Bo-

A Bodhisattva teaches beings with reason. In order to have beings abandon their evil deeds, he teaches the Dharma with rich words, connections, conformity, suitability, skillful means, appropriateness, harmony, and the collection of diligent practice limbs. Or he also teaches with skillful means. In order to have beings abandon their evil deeds, he truthfully abandons the miserliness of the miserly, obtains truth in this life, accomplishes, protects, and enjoys with few possessions, causes faith to be obtained in the views of this teaching, liberates from the lower realms with pure views, completely ceases all afflictions, and liberates from all suffering, which is also the same. Furthermore, when a Bodhisattva shows gratitude to beings who have been kind, he respectfully says when he sees them, "Please come, you have come well!", and greets them diligently, making them happy. He also welcomes them by giving seats and places to stay. He gives equal or greater rewards for their gains and respect, not just a little. For their affairs, he helps even without being asked, let alone if he is asked. For their affairs, he truthfully helps those who are suffering, teaches according to the Dharma, becomes a protector from fear, eliminates the sorrow of those in suffering, provides the necessary items, gives places to stay, makes their minds communicate, makes them happy with true qualities, tames with a gentle heart, makes them fearful with miraculous powers, and does the same for what they want to do. Furthermore, a Bodhisattva protects beings who are afraid from all kinds of fears. He also protects beings from the fear of harm from wild animals. And the fear of abysses and crocodiles, the fear of kings, the fear of thieves, the fear of outsiders, the fear of lords and masters, and the fear of lack of livelihood.

I also protect from the fear of unpleasantness, the fear of shame in the retinue, the fear of non-humans, and the fear of zombies. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva eliminates the suffering of sentient beings, starting with the suffering of relatives and friends, even the death of parents can eliminate sorrow. The death of sons and wives, servants and maids, employees, those who live on leftovers, friends and advisors, relatives and elders, teachers and Khenpos, and lamas, can also eliminate sorrow. Furthermore, starting from the suffering of enjoyment, if the enjoyment of others is taken away by the king, it can also eliminate their sorrow. Being robbed by thieves, burned by fire, carried away by water, or wasted because it was not properly hidden in the treasure, or becoming bad because the work was not done carefully, or being taken away by those who do not cherish the distribution, or a family dispute occurs in the house, or whoever suffers from those enjoyments in an improper way, from that basis, the small, medium, and large sorrows born of sentient beings are also truly eliminated by the Bodhisattva. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva accomplishes implements for those who want implements, and gives food to those who want food. He gives drinks to those who want drinks, vehicles to those who want vehicles, clothes to those who want clothes, ornaments to those who want ornaments, utensils to those who want utensils, and incense, garlands, and ointments to those who want incense, garlands, and ointments, he gives dwellings to those who want dwellings, and he gives light to those who want light. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva completely gathers sentient beings with the discipline of completely gathering, in the manner of completely gathering the assembly, putting only the heart of compassion first, and first giving a place to stay with a mind free of defilement. After that, for their benefit, from Brahmins and faithful householders, righteously obtaining clothes and food.
