When the brave precepts of discipline are lost, relying on oneself, a sense of shame will arise. Restoring the lost foundation of the precepts, and from the very beginning not becoming lost, with these two causes of arising respect, the Bodhisattva will be without regret. Thus, the Bodhisattva, relying on properly taking vows and pure intention, generates shame and embarrassment. Having shame and embarrassment, he will guard the precepts that have been properly taken. Having guarded them, he will be without regret. Among these, what is properly taken from others, and what is the Dharma of superior pure intention, what is restored from these two not being lost, and what is it that without being lost, what are these two Dharmas that are guiding with respect? Among these, what is properly taken from others, and what is the superior intention that is extremely pure, and what is it that without being lost, what are these three Dharmas that are revered, it should be known that the discipline of the Bodhisattva will not be lost. By restoring from loss, it should be known that it is repairing and restoring from damage. The nature of the Bodhisattvas' discipline, endowed with four qualities, is properly taken and followed, beneficial to oneself, beneficial to others, beneficial to many beings, happiness to many beings, compassion to the world, for the benefit of gods and humans, benefit and happiness, it should be known to be virtuous. The immeasurable foundation of the Bodhisattva's precepts is completely gathered, it should be known to be immeasurable. Abiding closely for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, it should be known to be beneficial to all sentient beings. Because of completely holding and giving the fruit of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, it should be known that the fruit and benefits are great. Among these, what are all the disciplines of the Bodhisattva? In short, the discipline of the Bodhisattva, belonging to the householder's side and the renunciant's side, is called all the disciplines. Relying on the householder's side

Moreover, the discipline that relies on the aspect of renunciation, in brief, is of three types: the discipline of restraint, the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas, and the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. Among these, the Bodhisattva's discipline of restraint refers to the seven types of individual liberation vows that are properly taken, namely the disciplines of a Bhikshu, Bhikshuni, Shramanera, Shramanerika, Upasaka, and Upasika. Whether one is a householder or a renunciate, one should understand according to the circumstances. The discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas refers to all the virtuous deeds accumulated by body, speech, and mind by a Bodhisattva after properly taking the discipline of restraint, for the sake of great Bodhi. In brief, it is called the discipline of accumulating virtuous dharmas. What is it? It is that the Bodhisattva relies on discipline and abides in discipline, striving in listening, thinking, tranquility, contemplation, and single-minded joy. Similarly, one speaks respectfully to the Lamas at all times, prostrates, rises quickly, and joins palms. Similarly, one respectfully serves those Lamas themselves at all times. One serves the sick, attending to them with compassion. Similarly, one bestows the word "Excellent!" upon those who speak well. One utters all the true praises of those who possess qualities. Similarly, for all the merits of all sentient beings in the ten directions, one generates a mind of joy from the depths of one's heart, expresses it in words, and rejoices accordingly. Similarly, one examines and endures all the faults committed by others. Similarly, all the virtuous deeds done and not done by body, speech, and mind are completely dedicated to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. One makes various true aspirations at all times and makes vast offerings to the Three Jewels in all ways. One constantly and continuously strives in the aspects of virtue.
