If one only focuses on the benefits of great wealth and does not focus on the benefits of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, then the bodhisattva will quickly recognize through wisdom the faults arising from focusing on evil consequences. Therefore, one should truly and separately recognize that all conditioned phenomena are without essence. All conditioned phenomena are momentary and perishable, and those who enjoy the fruits will eventually be exhausted and separated from the nature of destruction, thus considering them to have the nature of destruction. When one recognizes this separately, one will abandon attachment to the fruits, and whatever is given as charity will only be completely dedicated to the great enlightenment. This should be understood as the four obstacles to the bodhisattva's giving, and the knowledge of the four methods to counteract the obstacles to giving: namely, realization, acceptance of suffering, complete understanding of inversion, and viewing conditioned phenomena as without essence. Among them, the knowledge of the first three counteractions enables the bodhisattva to give firmly and give excellently. The knowledge of the last counteraction enables one to fully enjoy the true fruits of merit. This should also be understood as the bodhisattva's giving with wisdom. Furthermore, the bodhisattva goes to a quiet place, gathers his mind inward, and with pure thoughts and sincere joy, believes in various vast and immeasurable dharmas that can be used for giving, and hopes that beings can obtain the power of giving. In this way, the bodhisattva will increase immeasurable merit in a very short time. This should also be understood as the bodhisattva's giving with wisdom. This is the bodhisattva's giving of wisdom with great wisdom. In short, whether it belongs to the giving of material things, the wealth that can be used for giving, or the wealth that does not belong to the giving of material things, as well as relying on the giving of dharma, relying on individual correct awareness, relying on the giving of superior intention, relying on the knowledge of counteracting the obstacles to giving, and superior

If one relies on giving with a pure intention, it should be known that this is solely the unshared practice of a Bodhisattva. It should be understood that a Bodhisattva is one who extensively distinguishes the giving of all things, internal and external. From this point onward, all other difficult giving, etc., should be understood as being distinguished by this giving itself. So, what is the difficult giving of a Bodhisattva? When a Bodhisattva possesses very little to give, they harm themselves, endure suffering, and give to others. This is the first difficult giving of a Bodhisattva. When a Bodhisattva has something they cherish, whether it is naturally beloved, long familiar, greatly beneficial, or the most excellent and supremely excellent thing to give, they relinquish attachment and give it to others. This is the second difficult giving of a Bodhisattva. When a Bodhisattva gives away things they have acquired with great effort, this is the third difficult giving of a Bodhisattva. So, what is the giving through all means of a Bodhisattva? Whether the Bodhisattva themselves or begged from others, the things to be given are given to their own gardens and servants, parents, children, wives, male servants, female servants, employees, those who live on leftovers, friends, advisors, relatives, elders, or any other who desires them. These four ways, in short, are called the giving through all means of a Bodhisattva. So, what is the giving of a great person by the great Bodhisattvas? The Bodhisattva gives with faith, respect, their own hands, at the right time, and without harming others. This is called the giving of a great person by the great Bodhisattvas. So, what is the giving in all aspects of a Bodhisattva? Giving without dependence, giving without stinginess, joyful

Giving with, giving continuously, giving to vessels, giving to non-vessels, giving everything, giving to all, giving at all times, giving without fault, giving the possessions of sentient beings, giving the possessions of places, giving the possessions of wealth and grain, these thirteen types of giving are called the giving of all aspects of a Bodhisattva. What is the giving of a Bodhisattva to those who are impoverished and desire? Here, the Bodhisattva gives food and drink to those who are impoverished and desire food and drink, gives vehicles to those who desire vehicles, gives clothes to those who desire clothes, gives ornaments to those who desire ornaments, gives various kinds of utensils to those who desire various kinds of utensils, gives incense, flower garlands, and ointments to those who desire incense, flower garlands, and ointments, gives dwellings to those who desire dwellings, and gives light to those who are impoverished and desire light. These eight aspects should be understood as the giving of a Bodhisattva to those who are impoverished and desire. What is the giving of a Bodhisattva that brings happiness here and elsewhere? The giving of material things, the giving of Dharma, and the giving of fearlessness, in short, should be understood as the giving that brings happiness to sentient beings here and elsewhere. The giving of material things is to give good, clean, and suitable things after removing the stain of stinginess and the stain of hoarding. Removing the stain of stinginess is because of completely abandoning the clinging of the mind. Removing the stain of hoarding should be understood as completely abandoning the clinging to enjoyment. The giving of fearlessness is to completely protect from the fear of lions, tigers, crocodiles, those who hold weapons, kings, thieves, and water, etc. The giving of Dharma is to teach the Dharma without distortion, to teach the Dharma logically, and to cause people to correctly uphold the basis of the training, all nine of these aspects of the Bodhisattva's giving are one.
