Is it to destroy afflictions? Is it to perfect the accumulation of wisdom? Or is it to give this Dharma gift to make sentient beings happy? I have not seen afflictions, and if I do not give, I will see a great accumulation of wisdom in this life and the next. If I give, I will not become a great realization, and the Dharma gains in the next life will be great, not small. If I do not give, then I will cultivate wisdom for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, so that this sentient being and all other sentient beings will be happy. If I give, then only this one sentient being will be happy. Knowing this as it is, if a Bodhisattva does not give, then there will be no fault, no regret, and no violation of the Bodhisattva's conduct. How does one not give? A Bodhisattva does not reject a beggar with harsh words, saying, "I will not give to you," but skillfully hints and sends them away. What is skillful means? From the beginning, the Bodhisattva offers and dedicates all resources and all Dharma to be given to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions with a pure mind, just as a monk offers a Dharma robe to his teacher or abbot. Because of this dedication, even if he has accumulated all kinds of vast resources and Dharma to be given, he is still called a Bodhisattva who abides in the noble lineage. Immeasurable merit will also increase. His merit is constantly remembered many times, so it appears to increase at all times. He also fills the Dharma to be given, as if the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were filled and abiding. If he sees a beggar and sees that he should give him what he desires, then he knows that there is nothing that the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have not abandoned sentient beings, and he fulfills the beggar's wish.

If it is deemed inappropriate, then relying on that thought, (thinking) these beautiful things belong to others, they have not been given to you, thus making him understand with gentle words, and then letting him leave. Or giving that other person two or three times the alms, and giving service and respect, letting him leave. It is imperative to let him know that this Bodhisattva has not become one with a nature of attachment, it is not that he does not want to give to us, but that this Dharma of the scripture, there is no right to give, therefore he does not give. This also starts from the Bodhisattva's Dharma giving, know that this is giving with wisdom. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva, for all giving of the nature of Dharma and wealth, from the aspects of types, definitions, exact words, causes and results, and detailed distinctions, thoroughly understands them as they are, and then gives, know that this is also the Bodhisattva's giving with wisdom. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva gives with a loving thought to those who harm sentient beings. To those who are suffering, with a compassionate thought; to those who have merits, with a joyful thought; to those who are helpers, friends, and loved ones, he gives with a thought of equanimity, know that this is also the Bodhisattva's giving with wisdom. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva also thoroughly understands as they are the obstacles to giving, and the antidotes to the obstacles to giving. Among them, there are four obstacles to giving: not being accustomed to it before; lacking the Dharma to be given and not possessing it; being attached to श्रेष्ठ and satisfactory things; and expecting and liking the future perfect enjoyment of the results. Because the Bodhisattva clearly has the Dharma that should be given, but the beggar अच्छे comes, but is unwilling to give, then he will quickly recognize with wisdom that this fault is due to his own lack of habit. Like this, I am also.

The land was definitely not given away in the past. Therefore, I have enjoyments now, but even though the beggar has come well, my mind does not incline towards giving. If one does not give after examining in this way, then in the future I will also hate giving, one should realize this. Therefore, from realizing this, one should also rely on the antidote to the obstacles to giving, examine separately and give, and not follow the faults arising from unfamiliarity and be dominated by them. Furthermore, if the beggar comes well, If the Bodhisattva's mind does not incline towards giving because of the smallness of the enjoyment, then he should quickly recognize with wisdom that the cause of the obstacle to giving is poverty. Accepting the suffering caused by poverty, he should give with compassion after examining separately. He thinks like this: benefiting others from samsara is due to the faults of previous karma, or being dominated by others, I will experience many unbearable sufferings such as hunger and thirst. If the suffering of this life is the giving that arises from the cause of benefiting others, even if I die because of it, only giving will be good for me, and turning away the beggar is not like that. Even if there is nothing, some people think that they can survive with some herbs. Therefore, the Bodhisattva accepts the suffering caused by poverty and gives. Furthermore, if the beggar comes well, if the Bodhisattva's mind does not incline towards giving because the object to be given is very satisfactory and excellent, the Bodhisattva should quickly recognize with wisdom the fault arising from attachment, and completely reverse the inverted notion that "I seek happiness in suffering" is the cause of suffering in the future. Abandoning it, completely examine separately and give that object. Furthermore, if the Bodhisattva gives, the result of giving
