And, to the women who enjoy singing and dancing, and to those who learn various kinds of crafts and occupations, and to those kinds of joys, and whatever are the supreme objects, the Bodhisattva gives to those who beg, for the sake of making their minds happy. Even if a sick person comes to beg, the Bodhisattva does not give food and drink that is excessive or harmful. He also does not give leftover food and drink to those who follow their greedy nature. He does not allow beings tormented by sorrow to commit suicide, or to beat themselves, or to drink poison, or to jump off a cliff. Seventh Chapter. The Bodhisattva also does not give away all of his parents completely to the beggars, because the Bodhisattva's parents are as supreme as a guru, they are the ones who nurse, nourish, and give birth, therefore, even if the Bodhisattva carries his parents on his head for a long time, he should not be weary. If he gives himself to his parents by mortgaging his hair, or by cutting himself, or by selling himself, and lets them possess and depend on him, then how would the Bodhisattva think of giving to others? And how would he even consider giving? Even if the Bodhisattva becomes a king who has been enthroned from the crown of his head, he does not seize the sons and wives of others from them in order to take care of the beings who belong to him, and give them to others, but he thinks, 'May they also become like me,' and then he gives away the entire village, or a part of the village, or the entire region, or a part of the region, as something to be enjoyed. The Bodhisattva does not give away his own son or wife, as well as servants, maids, employees, those who live on leftovers, and those who are completely his own, to others who want them, without properly informing them, or if they do not want to be given away, or if they are not happy. Even if they have been properly informed and they are happy and willing, he does not give them to unfriendly people, as well as yakshas and rakshasas, and forgetful people, it is appropriate for sons and wives to live together in happiness.

Nor will they give people away as slaves. Bodhisattvas will not give kingdoms to beggars who are mostly engaged in harming others and are forgetful. If they have the power to remove, they will also remove such people from the kingdom. Bodhisattvas will not seize the possessions of their parents to give to beggars. Just as they treat their parents, so too with their children, wives, servants, maids, employees, and those who live on shares. From harming parents to extensively harming employees and those who live on shares, they will not completely give away things to be given to those who come to beg. Bodhisattvas accumulate wealth through righteous means and then give alms, but not through unrighteous means, not randomly, and not through harming others and causing them pain. Bodhisattvas who abide in the teachings of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, will never violate their precepts in order to give alms. Even when giving alms, Bodhisattvas maintain a close mind that all beings are worthy recipients, treating friends, enemies, ordinary people, those with virtues, those with faults, the lowly, the equal, the particularly superior, the happy, and the suffering all alike, giving alms with a mind of equanimity towards all sentient beings. Bodhisattvas do not diminish what they have said or vowed, nor do they give alms to beggars, but only give what is equal or more. If Bodhisattvas have vowed to give good things, they will not give bad or inferior things. Even if they have vowed to give bad or inferior things, if they have good things, they will only give good things. Bodhisattvas do not give alms with displeasure, anger, or mental confusion. After giving alms, they do not repeatedly say, "You are such and such a person, I have helped you by giving alms, I have raised you, I have guided you," and so on, to scold the recipient.

Even if a Bodhisattva gives alms to a wicked person, if he is despised and disrespected, he will not give alms, let alone to a virtuous person. A Bodhisattva, dwelling in various kinds of improper begging, arrogant, unrestrained, scolding, angry, and behaving improperly, will not give alms with a weary mind because of their improper conduct. A Bodhisattva, realizing that these people are mostly afflicted by defilements, only cherishes the mind of compassion and gives alms. They hold wrong views and do not give alms. For example, they do not believe that sacrifices that cause great harm and alms that use harm as a means can be transformed into Dharma, nor do they give alms in conjunction with auspiciousness and blessings. They also do not believe that merely giving various alms in an extremely pure way can purify worldly and transcendent desireless beings, but believe that alms are merely a means of becoming pure. They give alms without considering the result. They dedicate all alms to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. A Bodhisattva who can truly see the various fruits of all alms ripen and generate firm faith gives alms without relying on others or being guided by others. For example, giving food makes one strong, giving clothes makes one radiant, giving a mount shows comfort, and giving a lamp gives one eyes. And so on, it should be widely understood. A Bodhisattva does not give alms for fear of becoming poor, but only acts with a compassionate mind. A Bodhisattva also does not give alms that are inconsistent with the beggars. For example, to those who strive to accumulate wealth, giving leftover food and drink, or giving feces, urine, saliva, mucus, vomit, pus, blood, and things contaminated with blood.
