Just by praying, nothing else remains, and those similar to this should be known as the power contained in the conduct and abiding of the noble ones. Even at the time of complete passing into nirvana, the great earth shakes, meteors fall, the directions blaze like fire, and the sounds of divine drums resound from the sky. This is also solely the power that is co-emergent with the Thus-Gone Ones, and it is not manifested through supernormal cognition. This is called the power that is co-emergent with the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. So, what is uncommon and what is common between the power of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and the power of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers? The uncommon, in brief, should be known as threefold: subtle divisions, forms, and realms. Here, the Thus-Gone One or Bodhisattva has immeasurable and countless methods of power. They truly and thoroughly understand how to work for the benefit of immeasurable and countless beings, and that is subtle divisions. Possessing all forms of supernormal cognition, Dharma power, and co-emergent power, that is forms. All world realms and all realms of beings are the scope of their power, and that is realms. The scope of the Hearer's supernormal cognition is the two-thousandfold world realm, including the realm of beings. The scope of the Solitary Realizer's supernormal cognition is only the entire three-thousandfold world. Why is that? Because they have entered in order to tame only themselves, not for all beings, so the scope of their power is limited to a single world realm. Apart from these forms, the power of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is uncommon to the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Therefore, the supernormal cognition of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers is not the same as that of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and it is the same as the views of gods, humans, and all non-Buddhist practitioners. The transformations and all speech of the Bodhisattvas

And whatever power of miracles belongs to the subsequent teachings should also be understood as being included in the various kinds of supernormal faculties, such as the supernormal faculty of knowing the realm of miracles, the varieties of mind, and the supernormal faculty of knowing the exhaustion of defilements. The fifth chapter, on supernormal faculties, from the section on the basis of the yoga of the bodhisattva ground. Fifth fascicle. What is ripening? Ripening, in brief, should be understood as being of six kinds: the nature, the person to be ripened, the distinctions of the aspects of ripening, the means of ripening, the person who causes ripening, and the characteristics of the person who is ripened. What is the nature of ripening? It is this: if there is a seed of virtuous dharma, then by the cause of constantly cultivating virtuous dharmas, abandoning afflictions and the obscurations to knowledge, a body and mind that are suitable for purification and in accordance with purity, and abiding in the ultimate perfection of comfortable and correct yoga, whether or not one encounters a teacher, at that moment one will have the opportunity and the power to directly realize the abandonment of the afflictive obscurations or the abandonment of the obscurations to knowledge. For example, when a wound ultimately depends on being pierced, then at that moment it is appropriate to pierce it; this is called ripening. When earthenware vessels such as pots, jars, and bowls ultimately depend on being used, then at that moment it is appropriate to use them; at that time it is called being cooked. When fruits such as mangoes and jackfruit ultimately depend on being enjoyed, then at that moment it is appropriate to enjoy them; at that time it is called ripening. Similarly, when any correct yoga that is the cause of constantly cultivating virtuous dharmas reaches its ultimate perfection, then at that moment it becomes purified; this is the nature of ripening. The persons to be ripened, in brief, are of four kinds, distinguished by practice and result: bodhisattvas and the Blessed Buddhas.

The departed ones fully ripened the Śrāvaka lineage in the Śrāvaka vehicle, the Pratyekabuddha lineage in the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, and the Buddha lineage in the Mahāyāna. Furthermore, they also fully ripened those without lineage so that they may go to the good realms. These four types of individuals should be fully ripened on these four bases. Therefore, one should understand ripening from the object to be ripened. What are the distinctions of the types of ripening? In brief, there are six types: the full ripening of faculties, the full ripening of roots of virtue, the full ripening of wisdom, and small, medium, and great full ripening. Among these, the full ripening of faculties refers to lifespan, complexion, lineage, the perfection of power, dignified speech, being renowned for great authority, being male, and great joy, etc. Relying on this body that is perfected with the results of maturation, one will become capable of being tamed and following along, and one will also not become weary of striving to perfectly accomplish all fields of knowledge. What is the full ripening of roots of virtue? It refers to abiding in a state where afflictions are naturally small, so that one's mind naturally does not engage in sinful and unwholesome dharmas, and having small obscurations, few thoughts, and holding to upright and harmonious views. What is the full ripening of wisdom? It refers to having mindfulness and a tamed mind, being able to fully understand the meaning of well-spoken and poorly-spoken dharmas, and having the innate wisdom that is capable of receiving, grasping, and thoroughly comprehending. Relying on this wisdom, one will possess the potential and ability to permanently liberate the mind from all afflictions in every way. Among these, the full ripening of faculties will lead to liberation from the obscuration of maturation. The full ripening of roots of virtue will lead to liberation from the obscuration of karma. The full ripening of wisdom will lead to liberation from the obscuration of afflictions.
