The dharmas such as form are not the nature of form itself. For those dharmas, there are no other dharmas of nature such as form that are different from them. Whatever is the unspeakable meaning in which those dharmas named as form and so on exist, that should be understood as the true nature of reality. The Blessed One also said from the categories of meaning: "Whatever conventional truths exist in the world, all of them are not accepted by the Able One. He does not like to see and hear, therefore he does not allow it. Who would grasp it?" How does this verse explain its meaning? Whatever things are named as form and so on, those that are called form and so on are called conventional truths. But it is not considered that those called are the nature of the thing itself, because they are conventional truths. Why is that? Because he does not have the view of arising and destruction, therefore he does not have the view of perverted establishment, so it is said that he does not allow it. Since he does not allow it in this way, without this view, who would add or subtract from the thing? If there is no grasping, then he sees the knowable as it is, that is his seeing. Whatever hearing is spoken by the knowable itself, that is his hearing. For seeing and hearing, he does not generate attachment, nor does he increase attachment, but abandons the object and abides in equanimity, therefore he does not like it. Again, the Blessed One, starting from the tamer Katyayana's son, said: 'Here, the monk tamer does not rely on the earth to meditate. Water, fire, wind, space, consciousness, the realm of nothingness, the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, this world, the other world, the two sun and moon, seeing, hearing, distinguishing, discerning, obtaining, measuring, mentally recollecting, contemplating, all these do not rely on to meditate.' How does a meditator rely on the earth?

Not meditating by relying on, and broadly speaking, not meditating by relying on anything in between? Here, a Bhikshu who subdues, eliminates the perception of earth as earth. From perceiving water as water, to broadly speaking, perceiving everything as everything, that is eliminated. Thus, a Bhikshu meditator does not meditate by relying on earth, and broadly speaking, does not meditate by relying on anything in between called everything. To such a Bhikshu meditator, the gods with senses, and those with power, and those with lords of beings, all-knowing ones, we pay homage to you! Excellent ones, we pay homage to you! On what do you rely to meditate? We do not know your reliance. Thus, they pay homage from afar. How does the words of the Sutra show this meaning? The things that are nominally designated on earth and so on, named "from...", whatever is nominally designated like this, is called the perception of earth and so on. This perception is also to impute and slander the things that are nominally designated on earth and so on. To hold things by their own nature is to impute. To hold the truth of things alone as destroyed is called the perception of slander. That perception is eliminated. Elimination means abandoning and letting go. Therefore, by the scriptures, one should also know that the Tathagata is the most trustworthy scripture, and all dharmas are of the nature of being unspeakable. If all dharmas are of the nature of being unspeakable, why use speech? Thus, even without speech, one cannot declare the unspeakable nature of dharma to others, nor can one hear it. If there are no words and hearing, one cannot know the unspeakable nature. Therefore, for the sake of hearing and knowing, one also uses speech. If Suchness is not fully understood in this way, then from this basis, the discriminations of children give rise to three things, and all the achievements of sentient beings and the container world will appear in eight aspects. That is, discrimination in nature

And, specifically distinguishing, and the distinction of grasping as a whole, and the distinction of "I am," and the distinction of "mine," and the distinction of loveliness, and the distinction of unloveliness, and the distinction of liberation from those two. These eight distinctions, by which three things are they produced? That is, the distinction of essence, and the distinction of particularity, and the distinction of grasping as a whole, these three distinctions are the basis of the proliferation of distinctions, and the object of the proliferation of distinctions, that is, they can generate the names of forms and other things. Relying on that thing to engage in proliferation, then the expression of the concept of name will be completely grasped, and the various distinctions that are completely cultivated through the expression of the concept of name will arise in many different ways from that thing itself. Among them, the distinction of "I am," and the distinction of "mine," these two are the root of all views other than the view of the perishable aggregate, and the root of pride, that is, they can generate the root of all pride other than the pride of "I am." Among them, the distinction of loveliness, and the distinction of unloveliness, and the distinction of liberation from those two, then generate desire, hatred, and ignorance respectively according to the situation. In this way, these eight distinctions are, the basis of distinction, the object of proliferation, and views and pride, and desire, hatred, and ignorance, etc., can cause these three things to arise. Among them, for the object of the proliferation of distinctions, then rely on the view of the perishable aggregate and pride. For the view of the perishable aggregate and pride, then rely on desire, hatred, and ignorance, etc., these three foundations completely reveal all the directions of the world's progress. Among them, what is the distinction of essence? That is, for the named things such as forms, distinguish them as forms, etc.
