These are the three categories of powers. What is the difference between the power of knowing what is and is not the case, and the power of knowing actions as one's own? The accomplishment of the results of happiness and suffering from virtuous and non-virtuous actions is known by the power of knowing what is and is not the case. The agent of virtue and non-virtue, who experiences the results of happiness and suffering individually, is known by the power of knowing actions as one's own. Whatever meditative states and liberations, etc., are attained, they arise in those states and not in others, and this is due to the power of knowing actions as one's own. Based on those meditative states, etc., the act of taming disciples with the three kinds of miracles is due to the power of knowing meditative states, liberations, and samādhis. The mind that arises together with faith, etc., and is in accordance with it, is due to the power of knowing meditative states, liberations, and samādhis. Those faculties themselves, the distinction between small, medium, and large, is due to the power of knowing which faculties are superior and which are not. The intention to have faculties precede those and those dharmas is due to the power of knowing which faculties are superior and which are not. The various distinctions of that intention are due to the power of knowing various inclinations. That intention, in brief, should be understood as having six kinds of distinctions. The intention that is not renunciation is like the various desires for the Great Powerful One, the Son of No Craving, the World of Brahmā, and so on. The intention of renunciation is like the desires for the three vehicles. The intention that is far from purification is like those who abide in small and medium maturity. The intention that is close to purification is like those who abide in great maturity. This life

It is for those who believe in attaining Nirvana in this very life. The idea of attaining Nirvana in this very life is like this: it is for those who believe in attaining Nirvana through the Hearer Vehicle. The idea of attaining Nirvana later is like this: it is for those who believe in attaining complete Nirvana through the Great Vehicle. Understanding the seed that arises from faith and is similar to it is due to the power of knowing the variety of faiths. Differentiating and understanding that seed in various forms is due to the power of knowing the variety of realms. In brief, the detailed division of realms should be understood as four types: the seed that abides in its own nature, the seed that arises from prior habituation, the seed that can be purified, which is like those who possess the nature of eventually attaining complete Nirvana; the seed that cannot be purified, which is like those who do not possess the nature of eventually attaining Nirvana. Completely knowing the entry into the path that is suitable to the realm as it is, is due to the power of knowing the variety of realms. Completely distinguishing that very path in all aspects. This path leads to complete affliction, this leads to purification, this leads to permanent purification, this does not lead to permanent purification—all of this is due to the power of knowing the path that leads everywhere. Remembering the past and truly knowing the causes of all beings that possess the past, is due to the power of knowing the path that leads everywhere. After distinguishing, as before, completely knowing the six behaviors based on the basis of terminology, is due to the power of the knowledge of remembering past abodes. Starting from the past, completely knowing the death and birth of sentient beings is due to the power of the knowledge of remembering past abodes. Knowing the death and birth of sentient beings in the future is due to the power of the knowledge of death and birth.

For those sentient beings whose own benefit has not yet been fully realized, fully knowing their future lives and the continuity of connection, this is the power of knowing death and rebirth. For those sentient beings whose own benefit has been fully realized and whose minds have been completely liberated, fully knowing that they attain Nirvana in this life, this is the power of knowing the exhaustion of defilements. It should be understood that these are the differences and non-differences between the ten powers of the Tathagata. The doctrine of the Four Fearlessnesses should be understood as it is stated in this very sutra. These four places are the vows that the Tathagatas should make in the assembly, in order to be completely liberated from the obscurations of knowledge that are not common to the Shravakas, and to fully realize all dharmas in all ways, this is the first place. To be liberated from the obscurations of afflictions that are common to the Shravakas, this is the second place. For sentient beings who desire liberation, this is the definitive path that will lead them to complete liberation from suffering, this is the third place. In order to attain this path, it is necessary to completely abandon those dharmas that become obstacles and hindrances, this is the fourth place. The Tathagata makes vows regarding these four places as they truly are. Therefore, for actions of body, speech, and mind that are inconsistent with the vows of the first two places, and for contradictions and irrationalities that are inconsistent with the vows of the latter two places, in order to counter the vowed places, those with and without divine eyes, those who know and do not know the minds of others, and other causes of refutation, without truly observing, in these places, he makes vows without fear, without discouragement, without doubt, and without timidity. The vow that the teacher should make is: to accomplish both one's own benefit and the benefit of others completely. Among them, the first two places are the vows to accomplish one's own benefit completely.
