What? The tenth is the complete purification of the realization of the knowledge of that alone. The eleventh is the complete purification of the individual correct knowledge that accurately shows its meaning to others. The twelfth is the complete purification of the wisdom that follows all knowable things in all aspects. The thirteenth, the state of the Tathagata, is the complete purification of all defilements and obscurations of knowledge, together with their predispositions. These thirteen states should be understood as being included in the eight dharmas that gather the Great Vehicle previously taught. In the first and second states, the bodhisattvas who have generated faith and devotion listen to and contemplate the teachings. In the third state, they cultivate the superior intention that precedes the attainment of the aspect of meditation. In the other states, they meditate extensively between effortless and effortful meditation on the signless. The three states above that, which are the bodhisattva states gathered by completely pure conduct, are the complete accomplishment of the fruit of meditation. The state of the Tathagata should be understood as the state of definite emergence. These twelve bodhisattva states should be understood as being similar to the states of the Hearers in order. Just as the Hearers abide in their own lineage, so should this first state be understood. Just as the state of joining the practice of entering into the truly faultless, so is this the second state. Just as the state of entering into the faultless, so is this the third state. Just as the state of abiding in the superior discipline that pleases the noble ones in order to exhaust the outflows before gaining faith after knowing, so is this the fourth state. Just as the state of relying on the superior discipline and abiding in the superior mind training, so is this the fifth state. Just as the state of abiding in the superior wisdom training of knowing the truth as it has been attained, so should this be understood as the sixth, seventh, and eighth states. Just as the state of abiding in the practice of signless samadhi after thoroughly examining the knowable, so is this the state of

Ninth. Just as abiding in the absence of characteristics is perfectly accomplished, so is this tenth abiding. Just as abiding in the birthplace of liberation from its arising, so is this eleventh abiding. Just as the abiding of an Arhat in all its aspects, so should this twelfth abiding be known. The chapter on abiding, the fourth, from the yoga place of the Dharma that accords with the ground of the Bodhisattva. The second yoga place is complete. In all abidings, the birth of all Bodhisattvas of all Bodhisattvas, for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, all those without fault, in short, are of five kinds: those who truly pacify harm, those who enter into harmony with them in equal measure, great births, lordly births, and final births. What is the birth that truly pacifies harm? Here, when Bodhisattvas are afflicted by famine and great harm occurs, after making aspirations, in order to cause sentient beings to live with little effort, they are born into great bodies in places of birth such as great fish, and all beings born there are satisfied with their flesh. For sentient beings harmed by diseases, after making aspirations to pacify those diseases, they take the body of a great physician who has mastered the mantras. If sentient beings are greatly harmed by enemy armies, in order to subdue them according to the Dharma, by skillful means to pacify the harm of the enemy armies, they are born as powerful kings. For sentient beings who are not in harmony with each other, in order to reconcile them and abandon hatred, they become those who are earnest in speech. If kings inflict punishments, imprisonments, and various harms on their subjects, in order to dispel those harms of sentient beings, they are born in the palaces of such kings, causing the kings to become virtuous and compassionate towards sentient beings. If sentient beings only believe in the realm of the gods, and have wrong views and commit evil deeds, then for them.

In order to abandon wrong views and evil deeds with loving-kindness, one will be reborn in the realm of the gods. By the power of aspiration and empowerment, loving-kindness goes first, which is immeasurable to be known. The detailed explanation is to be born in various kinds of birth places. This is its brief explanation. So, what is the birth that enters in accordance with the same fate as it? Here, the Bodhisattva, by aspiration or by obtaining power, is born in various kinds of animal birth places, as well as gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, etc., who fight and disagree with each other. Likewise, for Brahmins who hold wrong views, and likewise for those who practice evil deeds and live by them, and are delighted in them, and likewise for those who are excessively attached to desires and are fond of desires, in order to reverse these faults, one will mainly be born as those with the same fate as those sentient beings. After becoming the main one, he does not universally do what those sentient beings universally do. He universally does what they do not universally do, in order to universally practice virtue. And he teaches them the Dharma, and they also turn away from those faults through skillful means from the Dharma teachings and discordant behavior. This rebirth is also immeasurable, and should be understood as before. So, what is the great rebirth? Here, when the Bodhisattva is born, he naturally manifests the perfection that surpasses all the worlds in terms of lifespan, appearance, lineage, and power, etc. Through this perfection, he can also accomplish the deeds as described in the chapter on the benefit of self and others. The Bodhisattva's rebirth is also immeasurable, and should be understood as being born in various kinds of birth places. So, what is the Bodhisattva's autonomous rebirth? From the first bhumi of dwelling in the Bodhisattva's Joyful Ground, to the rebirths between the tenth bhumi, from the dominion of Jambudvipa, to beyond Akanistha, dwelling in a place that is particularly superior to all places of rebirth.
