Having distanced themselves from that, and extensively, the worldly meditations of the first dhyana, second dhyana, third dhyana, and fourth dhyana, as well as the four formless absorptions of the world, the four immeasurables, and the five superknowledges, they cultivate and abide in them. Having repeatedly abided in these dhyanas, liberations, samadhis, and attainments, if they revert from these states, by the power of their aspiration, in whatever realm of desire they see a place where the Dharma that accords with the aspects of enlightenment for the benefit of sentient beings is fully complete, they will be born there. However, they will not be born under the control of these dhyanas, etc. This is because they have become detached from desire for the realm of desire, and therefore have abandoned the bonds of desire. Because they revert from dhyana, liberation, samadhi, and attainment, they have abandoned the bonds of existence. This is because from the very beginning, from the stage of conduct by faith, they have faith in the suchness of Dharma, and therefore have abandoned the bonds arising from views. Wrong desire, hatred, and delusion will never arise in him. From his seeing the Buddha onwards, until the roots of virtue are fully purified, it should be understood as before. There is a distinction here: for example, just as the gold in the hands of a skilled goldsmith, whose impurities and flaws are exhausted, without increase or decrease, and of equal measure, so too should his roots of virtue be understood as completely pure. In terms of rebirth, he will mostly become Indra, the lord of the gods, because he is skilled in averting the desire of sentient beings for the realm of desire. In terms of power, what was previously stated as a thousandfold should be understood here as a hundred thousandfold. Bodhisattvas abide in this superior mind in order to engage in the accomplishment of mental application of mind, and the correct discernment of formations, the realm of sentient beings, and great enlightenment, and to correctly seek the means to liberate sentient beings from suffering, to seek with great reverence, to diligently practice the Dharma that accords with the Dharma, to abide in the manifest cultivation of worldly dhyana, liberation, samadhi, attainment, and superknowledges, and to revert from these states.
