Fifty-five. It should be understood as immeasurable through the excellent divisions of the tantras. What difference is there between the realm of sentient beings and the realm of those to be tamed? All sentient beings who abide in the lineage and who do not abide in the lineage are not differentiated in the realm of sentient beings. Those who abide in the lineage, who abide in this and that stage, are called the realm of those to be tamed. The methods of taming should be understood as previously explained. Moreover, the divisions are immeasurable. If these are summarized, they become five immeasurables. Why is that? Here, the bodhisattva engages for the benefit of which sentient beings, that is the first immeasurable. Where those sentient beings abide, that object is the second immeasurable. In this and that world, by which dharmas those sentient beings are completely afflicted and completely purified, that object is the third immeasurable. Among those sentient beings, which sentient beings possess fortune and are seen to be able to permanently liberate from suffering, that is the fourth immeasurable. What is the method for liberating those sentient beings themselves, that is the fifth immeasurable. Therefore, these five immeasurables of the bodhisattvas will make them skilled in all things. These five should be understood as the vast benefit of the fruit of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas teaching the Dharma to sentient beings. What are the five? Among these, some sentient beings, at the very moment of teaching the holy Dharma, will generate a Dharma eye that is dustless and stainless in all dharmas. Among these, some sentient beings will attain the exhaustion of defilements at the moment of teaching the holy Dharma. Among these, some sentient beings will generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Among these, some sentient beings will attain the supreme patience of a bodhisattva at the very moment of hearing the holy Dharma. By the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas teaching the holy Dharma, through the methods of transmission, recitation, and authentic accomplishment, in a lineage from one to another, the holy Dharma of

It will cause the Dharma to abide for a long time. These five should be understood as the great benefits of the fruit of the teachings. What are the seven great things that, when possessed, cause the vehicle of the Bodhisattvas to be called the Great Vehicle? What are the seven? The Great Dharma is like this: the Bodhisattva Pitaka, which comes from the twelve branches included in the scriptures, is an extremely vast category. The Great Generation of the Mind is like this: some people merely generate the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete Bodhicitta. The Great Faith is like this: some people merely have faith in that Great Dharma itself. The Great Higher Thought is like this: some people completely transcend the stage of acting with faith and enter the stage of pure Higher Thought. The Great Accumulation is the accumulation of merit and the accumulation of wisdom, whichever is perfectly accomplished, will lead to the realization of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The Great Time is whichever of the three countless eons it is, will lead to the realization of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The Great Perfect Accomplishment is the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. For the perfect accomplishment of the body, no other perfect accomplishment of the body can compare to it, let alone surpass it or be more excellent. Therefore, what is the Great Dharma? What is the Great Generation of the Mind? What is the Great Faith? What is the Great Higher Thought? What is the Great Accumulation? What is the Great Time? These six great things are the cause of perfect accomplishment. It should be known that the uniqueness of that Great Perfect Accomplishment is the place where the fruit of those six things resides. These eight dharmas are what gather all the Great Vehicles, namely, teaching the Bodhisattva Pitaka, and teaching the true meaning of all dharmas in the Bodhisattva Pitaka itself, and teaching the inconceivable and extremely vast power of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the Bodhisattva Pitaka itself.

Whatever the teachings are, listening to them properly, cultivating higher intention preceded by proper attention, whatever entering into the aspect of meditation preceded by cultivating higher intention, whatever the complete accomplishment of the fruit of meditation preceded by entering into the aspect of meditation, and by the complete accomplishment of the fruit of meditation, one will definitely be liberated. Bodhisattvas who train in this way will realize unexcelled perfect enlightenment. Which Bodhisattvas, training in this way, will realize unexcelled perfect enlightenment? In short, they should be known as ten types: those who abide in lineage, those who have entered, those with impure intention, those with pure intention, those who are immature, those who are mature, those who have not definitely entered, those who have definitely entered, those who are bound by one lifetime, and those who are finite. Among them, when a Bodhisattva abiding in lineage trains, generating the mind is called having entered. As long as the one who has entered has not entered the ground of pure intention, they are called those with impure intention. The one who has entered is the one with pure intention. As long as the one with pure intention has not entered the ultimate ground, they are called the immature. The one who has entered is the mature. As long as the immature one has not definitely entered the ground of definite conduct and practice, they are called the indefinite. The one who has entered is the definite. The mature one is also of two types: the one who is bound by one lifetime is the one who will realize unexcelled perfect enlightenment in the next life; the finite one is the one who, while abiding in this life, will realize unexcelled perfect enlightenment. From lineage up to unexcelled perfect enlightenment, whatever these ten Bodhisattvas are shown to be, those who train in the Bodhisattva's trainings, their trainings are what to train in and how to train.
