What are they? They are as follows: desire and subduing desire, hatred and subduing hatred, ignorance and subduing ignorance, gathering and distraction, timidity and grasping, excitement and non-excitement, near peace and non-near peace, well-placed equanimity and not well-placed equanimity, well-cultivated path and not well-cultivated path, complete liberation and not complete liberation. These are the twenty dharmas of the dark and white sides, respectively belonging to the all-pervasive defilements and the aspects of purification, which should be known. Among them, the feeling of pleasure is dependent on the touch that experiences pleasure, which is the aspect of feeling that arises, that is, the feeling of pleasure. And that which corresponds to the five aggregates of consciousness is the feeling of the body. And that which corresponds to the consciousness of the mind is the feeling of the mind. Just as experiencing pleasure, experiencing suffering and experiencing neither suffering nor pleasure are also dependent on the touch that experiences suffering and experiences neither suffering nor pleasure, which is the aspect of feeling that arises, that is, the feeling of neither suffering nor pleasure, which is similar to suffering and non-suffering, and is called non-pleasure. And that which corresponds to the five aggregates of consciousness is the feeling of the body. And that which corresponds to the consciousness of the mind is the feeling of the mind. That which is in accordance with Nirvana, arising from discernment, being utterly ultimate and utterly stainless, and entering for the sake of abiding in utterly pure conduct, is without entanglement. That which belongs to the realm is with entanglement. That which is in accordance with form, formlessness, correspondence, and detachment from desire is dependent on renunciation. That which is in accordance with desire, detachment from desire, and non-compliance is dependent on quiescence. Among them, when the mind is associated with desire, it becomes attached.

What is it that is completely entangled by attachment to objects? To be free from attachment is to be free from what is completely entangled by attachment. To be with hatred is what is completely entangled by hatred to an object that will become hatred. To be free from hatred is to be free from what is completely entangled by hatred. To that, to be with ignorance is what is completely entangled by ignorance to an object that will become delusion. To be free from ignorance is to be free from what is completely entangled by ignorance. It should be understood that these six minds are those that possess characteristics. Among them, three are the aspect of complete affliction. Three are the aspect of the antidote to complete affliction. To that, the mind that is completely gathered is what is closely focused on the inner object in the manner of calm abiding. Distraction is what follows after the five desirable qualities of the external. To that, the mind that is depressed is what possesses dullness and sleep. Extreme grasping is what is made extremely happy with the object that will become desirable. The mind that is agitated is what is completely entangled by agitation because of grasping too correctly. The mind that is not agitated is what becomes equanimity at the time of grasping and at the time of gathering. To that, the mind that is nearly pacified is what is completely liberated from the obscurations. Not nearly pacified is what is not completely liberated. To that, the mind that is equally placed is what enters into the essence of meditation because of being completely liberated from the obscurations. Not equally placed is what does not enter. To that, the mind that is well cultivated is what quickly attains the samadhi as desired because of having completely trained in that very samadhi for a long time, and attains it without difficulty, and attains it without effort. To that, the mind that is not well cultivated should be understood to be the opposite of that. To that, the mind that is extremely liberated is what is completely and permanently liberated from all. The mind that is not extremely liberated is what is not completely and permanently liberated from all.
