is the first practitioner. So, what is complete training? It is the thorough training of the five mental activities from that point onwards until the attainment of ultimate achievement, except for the mental activity of individually recognizing characteristics. So, what is beyond mental activity? It should be understood that it is the mental activity of the fruit of ultimate achievement. Because it is far beyond the mental activity of the attainment meditation and abides in the fruit of meditation, therefore it is called beyond mental activity. Furthermore, from the desire for virtue onwards, diligent effort is the first practitioner as long as the roots of virtue that are in accordance with the decisive part are not generated. When the part that is in accordance with the decisive part arises, such as: warmth, peak, tolerance in accordance with truth, and the best of worldly dharmas, then it is complete training. When one enters into the truly flawless state, realizes the truths, does not rely on the teacher's teachings, and is not deceived by others, then it is beyond mental activity, because one does not rely on the teacher, is far beyond mental activity, and abides in the state of non-reliance, therefore it is called beyond mental activity. So, what is yoga meditation? It is said that there are two types: What are the two? They are: the meditation of perception and the meditation of the aspects of enlightenment. So, what is the meditation of perception? For example, striving on the worldly path is to meditate on the perception of the faults of all lower grounds. Striving for transcendence of suffering, observing peacefully the realm of abandonment, the realm of detachment, and the realm of cessation, is to meditate on the perception of abandonment, the perception of detachment, and the perception of cessation. Striving for tranquility is to meditate on the perception of the upper and lower aspects of tranquility. Striving for insight is to meditate on the perception of the rear and front aspects of insight.

Furthermore, the notion of "above and below" refers to how this very body, from the soles of the feet to the upper part, and from the hair and brain to the lower part, is filled with various impure things, how it exists, and how it is constituted. Just like that, this body has hair and body hair, etc., and one should examine them in detail, just as before. Secondly, the notion of "front and back" is as follows: Some people grasp the characteristics of analytical observation very perfectly, pay close attention to it, rely on it greatly, and analyze it very carefully. For example, when standing, one analyzes the posture of sitting; when sitting, one analyzes the posture of lying down; when walking forward, one analyzes the situation of coming from behind. Moreover, it is fully shown that one analyzes the activities of the three times, which are interdependent arising, in the form of insight. Among them, what is said, "When standing, one analyzes the posture of sitting," refers to using the present attention to analyze future objects of knowledge. The state of present attention is born, so it is called standing. The state of future objects of knowledge is unborn and is facing towards arising, so it is called sitting. What is said, "When sitting, one analyzes the posture of lying down," refers to using the present arising attention to analyze past objects of knowledge. The state of present arising attention is facing towards cessation, so it is called sitting. The state of past objects of knowledge is ceased, so it is called lying down. What is said, "When walking forward, one analyzes the situation of coming from behind," refers to analyzing the state of present arising attention that has just ceased. Among them, the attention that arises and arises, and has just ceased, is walking forward. Among them, the attention that arises continuously, constantly and newly grasping the things that have just ceased, is coming from behind. Therefore, when practicing shamatha and vipashyana, that aspect of the appearance of perception...
