That which is said, "The yogi who practices signs," refers to the sign of calm abiding, the sign of attachment, the sign of equanimity, constant practice, and respectful practice. That which is said, "Realizing all and the true meaning," refers to the ultimate nature of things. That which is said, "Constantly striving, contemplating images," refers to images with conceptualization and images without conceptualization. That which is said, "Completely pure, one realizes," refers to the complete accomplishment of what is needed. Furthermore, the Bhagavan said, "Skilled in the signs of the mind, obtaining the experience of utmost solitude, constantly striving, mindful meditators, practice without the distraction of joy and pleasure." In this regard, firstly, that which is said, "Skilled in the signs of the mind," the word 'signs' refers to images with conceptualization and images without conceptualization, and the word 'skilled' refers to the ultimate nature of things. That which is said, "Obtaining the experience of utmost solitude," refers to the joy of abandoning that which causes one to truly settle on the object of focus, and the joy of meditation. That which is said, "Constantly striving, mindful meditators," refers to the constant practice of calm abiding and insight meditation. That which is said, "Practice without the distraction of joy and pleasure," refers to the complete accomplishment of what is needed. Therefore, in this way, it should be understood that the pervasive object of focus is pure in terms of trustworthy scriptures and is endowed with reason; this is called the pervasive object of focus. So, what is the object of focus that purifies practice? It is like this: ugliness, love, dependent arising from this very cause, the differentiation of elements, mindfulness of inhaling and exhaling. Among these, what is ugliness? It is said: Ugliness is of six types. What are the six? They are like this: the ugliness of impurity, the ugliness of suffering, the ugliness of evil, the ugliness of dependence, the ugliness of affliction, and the ugliness of utter destruction. Among these, impurity

Then, what is unpleasantness? The answer is: impure unpleasantness also has two aspects, namely, relying on the inner and relying on the outer, and it should be understood in this way. Then, what is the impure unpleasantness that relies on the inner? For example: sounds, hair, nails, teeth, phlegm, feces, skin, muscles, bones, tendons, veins, kidneys, heart, liver, lungs, intestines, large intestine, stomach, cecum, spleen, excrement, tears, eye mucus, saliva, snot, fat, pus, feet and oil and bile, phlegm, pus, blood, brain marrow, brain pulp, urine, and things similar to these, it should be understood that these are the impure unpleasantness that relies on the inner. Then, what is the impure unpleasantness that relies on the outer? For example: being gnawed, being bitten, being worm-eaten, being swollen, being eaten, being blood-red, being scattered, bone piles, skeletons, bone skeletons, being stained with feces, being stained with urine, being stained with saliva, being stained with snot, being stained with blood, being stained with pus, toilets, garbage, and things similar to these, it should be understood that these are the impure unpleasantness that relies on the outer. What is the unpleasantness that relies on the inner, and what is the unpleasantness that relies on the outer, these are called impure unpleasantness. Then, what is the unpleasantness of suffering? The form of feeling that arises relying on the awareness that produces the feeling of suffering, that is, the suffering brought about by the feelings of body and mind, this is called the unpleasantness of suffering. Then, what is the inferior unpleasantness? That is, the basis of all that is extremely inferior and the realm of all that is extremely inferior, such as the desire realm, there is no realm more inferior, more evil, and more base than it, therefore this is called the inferior unpleasantness. Then, what is the relative unpleasantness? For example:

Eh. Although some things are ugly, they appear not ugly when compared to other, even more ugly things. For example, in relation to the formless realms, the realm of form appears not ugly. In relation to the cessation of the aggregates, nirvana, everything below the peak of existence is also counted as ugly. Such similar cases are called relative ugliness. So, what is the ugliness of afflictions? It refers to all the pervasive attachments, bonds, latent tendencies, entangling afflictions, and all that goes everywhere in the three realms. This is called the ugliness of afflictions. So, what is the extremely terrifying ugliness? It refers to the impermanence, instability, unreliability, and the nature of change of the five aggregates of grasping. This is called the extremely terrifying ugliness. These uglinesses are the objects of application used by desire and attachment. So, what is desire and attachment? Desire and attachment are of five types, namely: the desire for desire, which is the desire to crave for desires through inner desires; the desire for sexual intercourse, which is the desire to crave for sexual intercourse through outer desires; the desire for objects, the desire for forms, and the desire for aggregates. In order to abandon, eliminate, and prevent these five types of desire and attachment from arising, one should focus on the six types of ugliness. Among them, by focusing on the impurity of ugliness based on the inner, one purifies the mind from the desire for desire, which is the desire to crave for desires through inner desires. By focusing on the impurity of ugliness based on the outer, one purifies the mind from the desire for sexual intercourse, which is the desire to crave for sexual intercourse through outer desires, which has four types of sexual desire: the desire for color, the desire for shape, the desire for touch, and the desire for intimacy. Among them, when the body is divided, swollen, eaten by worms, and
