It is delightful to dwell in a solitary place, and that is how it should be. If asked how one is adorned, it is by having no frown, a clear complexion, offering a smile first, speaking frankly, speaking joyfully, having a receptive attitude, and a very harmonious mind; that is how one is adorned. Possessing those qualities, one does not desire the Dharma, does not desire merit, does not desire gain, does not desire respect, and does not desire a collection of pleasant sounds. One does not possess the wrong views of addition and defamation, and one does not add to non-existent things, nor does one defame existent things. Knowing that self-made things with fame in the world, and various pleasant and harmonious letters, words, and writings are meaningless, one abandons them from afar and does not use them. They do not make oneself happy, one does not carry extra bowls and robes, and one completely abandons the noisy gatherings that increase afflictions by associating with householders and renunciates. The assemblies that associate with noble ones purify wisdom, and one does not make friends with those who are the root of quarrels and harmful thoughts, and from those changes and alterations, sorrow and lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and quarrels arise. For all the afflictions and near afflictions that arise, one does not accept and abandon the thought: "If this root causes me suffering in this life and the next, that is not good," but rather one must abandon it, eliminate it, and purify it. One does not waste the offerings given in faith, one does not break the precepts, and one does not abandon the vows, thereby enjoying the offerings given in faith. One does not abandon the offerings given in faith, one does not offer the training, and when one's own faults and errors occur, one seeks them out, does not boast of virtuous deeds, but confesses sins, and when others' faults and errors occur, one lets them go. Even for the sake of life, one does not intentionally abandon the downfall, and

Even if young, one should act swiftly and in accordance with the Dharma, be skilled and diligent in urgent matters, act on one's own and not seek bodily service from others, and understand that the power of the Buddhas and their Shravaka disciples is inconceivable. Regarding the profound teachings, one should know that these are known and seen by the Tathagatas, not by oneself, and thereby develop faith and practice them without being lazy. One should not cling to one's own views, not hastily insist, and not speak of things that are difficult to abandon. One possesses these qualities and acts accordingly. By learning in this way, one can adorn oneself with the adornment of a Shramana and become beautiful. For example, a man who enjoys desires, wearing splendid clothes, anointing his body with perfumes, wearing white garments, and adorned with various ornaments such as necklaces, bracelets, armlets, rings, and gold and silver chains, would appear very beautiful. Similarly, if one adorns oneself with the various qualities of a Shramana, one will also become beautiful, radiant, and dazzling. Therefore, this is called the adornment of a Shramana, and that is the adornment of a Shramana. The intermediate summary is: having faith, being undeceitful, having few illnesses, being diligent, wise, having few desires, knowing rituals, being easy to nourish, being easy to satisfy, being purified, beautiful, knowing hot and cold, being a great person, the true Dharma, the signs of a wise person, being patient, steadfast, and rich. The summary is: one's own and others' wealth, presence and the roots of discipline, likewise food and not sleeping, acting with mindfulness, likewise a virtuous friend, listening to and contemplating the true Dharma, being without obstacles and abandoning, the adornment of a Shramana is the last. The concise summary is: worldly detachment, likewise transcendent, these are the collection and renunciation, the name of the land has been determined. Belonging to the Shravaka-bhumi of the Yogachara-bhumi, the first position of Yoga is completed. Seventh fascicle. Worldly detachment.
