And, one should think that one should wear the monastic robe not folded like palm leaves, not like the raising of a snake's head, not like a heap of grain. And, for future food and drink, one should not accept the alms bowl, and one should not take upon food and drink. For places without a foundation, and cliffs and abysses, one should not place the alms bowl. One should think that one should fully enjoy by means of successive alms gathering, one should not cover the dishes with rice, and one should not cover the rice with dishes. One should think that one should fully enjoy in a way that is without ridicule and without following ridicule. One should not eat too large mouthfuls, and one should not eat too small mouthfuls, but one should eat appropriately sized mouthfuls. And, one should not lick the hand, one should not soil the alms bowl, one should not rub the hand, one should not shake the alms bowl, one should not interrupt the food, but one should fully enjoy alms gathering. One should think that, having turned back from those patrons' houses and returned, even having gone to the monastery, one should not relax day and night, one should not be indiscriminate, not in others' places that are not permitted, in one's personal dwelling, one should not tire the body, one should not weary the body, one should cut off distraction, one should strive in virtue, not being associated with non-virtuous intentions, gathering the senses of the mind inward, not letting the mind wander outward, not too long, not too short, one should focus on one place, and in conjunction with returning, one should sometimes walk, and sometimes stay and rest. One should think that, similarly, not relaxing, not being indiscriminate, not in others' places that are not permitted, but in one's own monastery, or one's own house, or one's own cave, or in a place designated for individuals, similarly in a monastery, or under a tree, or in an empty room, sitting on a chair, or a small stool, or on the ground covered with grass, sitting in the lotus posture, straightening the body, placing mindfulness in front. One should think that, in the night's sleep period, one should lie down to sleep, and also while sleeping, one should think of the awareness of appearance, mindfulness, vigilance, and only the awareness of waking up.

Thinking of not falling asleep in the first watch of the night, but spending it in a virtuous way, and also waking up as quickly as possible in the last watch of the night. Then, engage in the work of recitation, or properly place oneself on the abandoned mat, or strive to contemplate the Dharma. Those things that are not for the sake of attaining clairvoyance, not for the sake of perfect enlightenment, not for the sake of completely passing beyond suffering, but for worldly secret numerical codes, various letters, various words, various alphabets, and things that do not accord with meaning, should be completely abandoned. Those teachings and disciplines spoken by the Tathagata, which appear profound and profound, which are in accordance with emptiness, and which are in accordance with this dependent arising, should be respectfully accepted, and should be held firmly and steadfastly. Even if they have been well grasped, it is not for the sake of gain and honor, but through diligent practice, one should not let them be wasted, and one should become very proficient in reciting those teachings. One should not spend time enjoying noisy talk and work, nor enjoying idle chatter, but should maintain mindfulness at all times. One should converse with wise people who behave like Brahma, one should speak auspiciously, one should feel joy individually, and with a mind free from blame, one should be of a nature to inquire completely, seeking what is virtuous, and wanting to speak about the Dharma with others, one should speak appropriately, speak logically, speak abidingly in the Dharma, speak peacefully, hoping to be satisfied by speaking about the Dharma with others. Thinking that by not speaking, one will not discriminate and contemplate sinful and unwholesome thoughts, one should not connect the mind with unlawful Dharma, one should not become arrogant, one should not become discouraged in the intermediate state because of understanding a little bit, or knowing a little bit, one should not think about things that should not be thought about, one should completely abandon these places, one should strive to cultivate shamatha and vipassana at all times, one should delight in renunciation, one should strive to make it lasting, one should strive to be respectful. Thinking that one is like someone afflicted by fever in the spring, one should strive in that way, one should be diligent, one should exert oneself.
