And, similarly, the second, similarly the third, similarly the fourth, above and below, and directly pervading all the infinite worlds, practicing and abiding, the rest is as before. For agitation and regret, there is this difference: having stayed like that, one correctly places it only in the mind, practices and makes it a single continuum, and makes it meditation, the rest is as before. For the obscuration of doubt, there is this pervasion: having stayed like that, did I appear in the past? Or am I one who did not appear in the past? What will I become in the past? What did I become like? In the future, what will I become? What will I become like in the future? What is there? What will become? Where did this sentient being come from? Where will I go after dying and transmigrating from here? One attends to the past time properly, and also does not attend to the future and present time improperly, therefore, having abandoned attending to the past time and the future time and the present time improperly, one attends to it properly. He sees only the Dharma, only things, only causes, only results, sees existence as existence, and sees non-existence as non-existence, and does not add anything to non-existent things, nor does he slander existent things, and he is not afraid, for example, impermanence and suffering, emptiness and selflessness, and he also correctly knows that I am also impermanent and suffering, empty and selfless. When one attends to it properly like that, there is no hesitation or doubt about the Buddha, and there is no hesitation or doubt about the Dharma and the Sangha, and suffering and arising, and cessation and the path, and causes and the dharmas produced by causes, the rest is as before. For harmful intent, also because of anger and starting from the cause of anger, in order to abandon those, which dharmas are heard and held, it is said.

It should be explained in detail as before. Regarding excitement and regret, also based on excitement and regret, in order to abandon them, which dharmas are heard and held, it should be explained in detail as before. Regarding doubt, also based on doubt, in order to abandon it, which dharmas are heard and held, it should be explained in detail as before, the rest is the same as before. Thus, for the desire for certainty, as well as the hindrances of malice, sloth, sleep, excitement, regret, and doubt, and those dharmas that lead to them becoming hindrances, it is to completely subdue the mind. Therefore, it is said in the sutra that the dharmas that become hindrances through attachment and dwelling can completely subdue the mind. This also refers to the fact that through the power of dharma, one can subdue those dharmas that become hindrances. Through the power of self and the power of the world, one can also subdue those dharmas that become hindrances. So, what is through the power of self? For example, when any hindrance arises, as soon as it arises, the arising of that hindrance will afflict the mind, weaken wisdom, and harm the side of virtue, therefore, recognizing that it is not in accordance with reason, feeling ashamed, not accepting the arisen hindrance, but abandoning it, eliminating it, purifying it. Thus, it is through the power of self that one subdues those dharmas that become hindrances. So, how does one subdue those dharmas that become hindrances through the power of the world? For example, when his hindrance has arisen, or the time of arising is near, he will think like this: If my hindrance that has not arisen arises, I will be reproached by the teacher, and those who practice together with the gods and Brahma, as well as the wise, will also reproach me according to the Dharma. Thinking like this, merely through the power of the world, the hindrance does not arise.

English
It does not generate and abandons what has already been generated. Thus, in the world, it completely tames the mind with the laws that obscure it. Likewise, in the first part of the night, through walking and sitting meditation, it makes the mind completely tame from the obscuring laws. Having completely tamed the mind from the obscuring laws, in order to serve the dwelling place and conform to the worldly rituals, afterwards, he goes out of the monastery, washes his feet outside the monastery, and after washing, enters the monastery. Thus, in order to increase the great elements that are increased by sleep, he lies down. If that body is increased, then the practice of virtue will always be perfected, and it will always be diligent and very capable, and it will also be very beneficial. Why does one lie down with the right side down? It is to conform to the behavior of the lion. How is it that it conforms to the behavior here? The lion is the greatest among all sentient beings born in the realm of animals, It is large at the root, tall, and suppresses others with firmness. Likewise, a monk who strives after practice without sleeping, who initiates diligence and abides, is also large at the root, tall, and suppresses others with firmness. Therefore, lying down like a lion is in accordance with its behavior. The lying posture of a yaksha, the lying posture of a deva, and the lying posture of those who enjoy desires are not like that. Thus, all of them are lazy, weak in diligence, small in strength, and unable to suppress others. In short, lying down like a lion with the right side is naturally such that the body does not become loose, and even after falling asleep, one does not forget mindfulness, does not fall into deep sleep, and does not dream of evil in dreams. If one does not lie down like that, then one should know that all the faults opposite to it will arise. Therefore, it is said that one should lie down with the right side down and the feet placed on top of each other.
