I. Regarding the feeling of suffering, entering into suffering itself. For example, with the state of unaccomplishment and unpleasure, neither suffering nor pleasure, and in accordance with the formations, and in the feeling that is neither suffering nor pleasure, one enters into the suffering of formations itself. One thinks thus: Considering the universal combination, the state of bondage, the unpleasant state, and the state of unaccomplishment and unpleasure, whatever of the three feelings slightly arises, one thinks that these are suffering here. Thus, with the mind directed by the aspect of impermanence, one enters into the aspect of suffering. One thinks thus: I only see the senses, only a moment, only the feeling arising from that, only the mind. The terms "I" and "mine" are only names, only appearances, only approximate designations. There is nothing higher or more than that. What exists is only aggregates. In those aggregates, where is the self that will be born, age, become sick, or die? Or the sentient being that is permanent, stable, enduring, and autonomous? And where is the one who performs actions there and individually experiences the ripening fruits of those actions? There is nothing. Therefore, these formations are empty and selfless. One thinks thus, and enters into the aspect of emptiness with the aspect of having no object. One thinks thus: Those formations that possess their own characteristics, general characteristics, and the characteristics of suffering are also without autonomy because they are dependently arisen. Those that are without autonomy are selfless. One thinks thus, and enters into the aspect of selflessness with the aspect of being without autonomy. Thus, that yogi, with the four aspects perfectly summarized in ten ways, comes to individually recognize the characteristics of the truth of suffering. Among these, the aspect of impermanence is perfectly summarized in five ways, namely: the aspect of change.

And, the aspect of destruction, the aspect of separation, the aspect of Dharma-nature, and the aspect of proximity, etc. The aspect of suffering is completely summarized by three aspects, namely: the aspect of universal combination and bondage, the aspect of unpleasantness, and the aspect of establishment and non-pleasure. The aspect of emptiness is completely summarized by one aspect, namely: the aspect of no object of focus. The aspect of selflessness is also completely summarized by one aspect, namely: the aspect of no autonomy. Thus, with the ten aspects that follow the four aspects, after individually recognizing the nature of suffering, if one abandons which one, this suffering can be abandoned. With four aspects, namely the cause, arising, increase, and condition of suffering, one should separately recognize the nature of the truth of arising. Among them, the cause is existence, because it throws suffering. Arising is throwing and making it manifest and arising. Increase is that suffering manifests and achieves and increases from it. The condition is completely holding the seeds of future suffering, and gradually making suffering truly manifest. Another way of saying it is that craving is the cause of becoming attached, and existence arising from attachment and the cause of attachment can be truly achieved, and birth that precedes existence can increase, and the place of the condition of birth is aging, sickness, death, and sorrow, etc., manifest, therefore it is the cause, arising, increase, and condition, and should be understood by combining them in order. Another way of saying it is that the latent tendencies of craving, etc., the latent tendencies of afflictions, whatever attachment to the body, that is for the future life, and is also the cause of the manifestation of existence. The pervasive entanglement arising from it is the arising, increase, and condition, and should be combined accordingly. For this, the craving for the existence that arises in order to truly achieve it is universal.

arising. Furthermore, the craving for existence that arises greatly cultivates the craving that possesses joy and attachment. The arising of craving that possesses joy and attachment is the condition for the craving that manifestly delights in this and that. Thus, relying on the aspect of its latent tendencies and the three types of craving that completely bind, the existence of arising also manifestly arises and occurs in the future. Therefore, it is said to be the cause, the origin, the increase, and the condition. In this way, that yogi individually understands the characteristics of the truth of arising through those four aspects. The end of the twentieth fascicle of the Hearer's Ground. Having thus individually understood the characteristics of the truth of arising, in order to completely exhaust the truth of arising, one contemplates cessation as cessation, as truth, as peace because suffering is completely exhausted, as excellent because it is supreme, chief, and unsurpassed, and as definite emergence because it is constant. In this way, that yogi individually understands the characteristics of the truth of cessation through those four aspects. Having thus individually understood the characteristics of the truth of cessation, one contemplates the path as the path, the reason, the practice, and the definite emergence, through the meaning of completely seeking what is to be known, the meaning of truly seeking, the meaning of following through the four doors, and the meaning of the single path for going to transcendence of sorrow. In this way, he individually understands the characteristics of the truth of the path through those four aspects. That is called the mental activity of individually understanding the characteristics of each of the four noble truths within it. Having thus closely examined and analyzed one's own aggregates in terms of the truth, one understands that those hidden aggregates of different realms are also understood to be of such a nature and in such a way through the door of inference. Whatever is compounded, all of them are of such a nature at all times and in all ways, so they are.
