If it is said that conduct is perfect, then there are five places that a renunciate should not go to. What are the five? Namely: the residence of a butcher, a brothel, a tavern, a royal palace, and the fifth is the home of an outcaste. Having abandoned these places that the Thus-Gone-One has condemned as unsuitable, one should engage in other faultless places, and do so at the appropriate time. This is how conduct is perfect. How does one fear even the slightest faults? The so-called slight faults refer to the transgressions of minor and very minor precepts, and the occurrence of those transgressions that need to be restored. Furthermore, one can recover from the occurrence of such transgressions with little effort, therefore it is also a slight fault. How does one view it with fear? Thinking that because of this cause of transgression, I will not be able to attain what has not been attained, understand what has not been understood, or realize what has not been realized, or I will fall into a bad rebirth, or I myself, the teacher, or the gods will be blamed, or the wise who practice similarly to Brahma will blame me according to the Dharma, or in all directions and corners, the sound of my sinful name will be spread, and I will hear unpleasant sounds. Thinking about these things, one will fear those things that lead to displeasure in this life and the next, and therefore, even for the sake of life, one will not deliberately violate minor and very minor precepts. Even if one commits a transgression due to carelessness, one will quickly confess and restore it according to the Dharma. This is how one fears even the slightest faults. How does one properly take and learn the precepts? Say, he previously approached the vows of individual liberation by means of supplication and four karmas when properly taking them.

Furthermore, in order to perfect it, having heard the nature of some trainings, as well as the two hundred and fifty remaining trainings spoken of in the Pratimoksha Sutra, when reciting the Pratimoksha every half month, having heard from the abbot or the preceptor or the one who converses or the one who visits, or the one who inquires or the friend, vowing to learn everything, committing only to that, therefore, he obtains the Pratimoksha vows by the cause of having fully taken all the trainings. From that time on, whatever trainings one has become skilled in, one will not temporarily incur lapses in those trainings, and if one incurs a lapse, one will confess it according to the Dharma. Because of having correctly taken the vows, for those trainings that have been correctly taken but one is not skilled in and has not become enlightened, now from the abbot or the preceptor, as before, from the place previously indicated, one correctly takes them by being skilled in the detailed explanation. Having correctly taken them by being skilled in the detailed explanation, one learns without omission as instructed, and for those trainings instructed by the lama and those like the lama, one completely grasps the meaning and words without inversion. Thus, the trainings are correctly taken and learned, and this is temporarily a detailed classification of the discipline of morality. So, what is the brief summary of the meaning? Whatever the Blessed One has fully shown as the three characteristics of the aggregate of morality, that is the brief summary of the meaning, namely: the characteristic of non-decay, the characteristic of nature, and the characteristic of the qualities of nature. And what are those? What is said as "abiding in morality" indicates the characteristic of non-decay of the discipline of morality. What is said as "restrained by the Pratimoksha vows" indicates the characteristic of nature. What is said as "perfect in conduct and perfect in scope" indicates the characteristic of the qualities of the Pratimoksha vows that have been correctly taken in that way depending on others, such as others.
