Those who abide in the Great Vehicle, their (merit) is uninterrupted, continuous, pure, and great. These are the signs of those who have entered. If one possesses these signs of those who have entered, they are counted among those called "enterers." Those who abide in lineage and those who have entered, it should be understood that these signs are to be inferred. The saviors, the Buddhas, the Bhagavad, and the noble Hearers who have reached the other shore, with their pure wisdom eyes, directly see them, namely lineage and enterers. Who are the persons who have entered? The person who has entered is only an enterer, but is not one who makes it fully mature, nor is one who is fully mature, and there are also those who are not definitely liberated. There are those who make it fully mature, but are not fully mature, and there are also those who are not definitely liberated. There are those who are fully mature, and there are also those who are not definitely liberated. There are also those who are definitely liberated, and their classification should be understood as before. Those who are different from them, such as those with dull faculties, etc., have been explained in the chapter on the lineage ground, and should also be understood here as appropriate. Therefore, what is the nature of entering, what is the establishment, what are the signs of the person who has entered, and who are the persons who have entered, all of these are gathered together and called "entering." The intermediate summary is: the nature and those establishments, the signs and those persons, all of these are briefly summarized, and should be understood in the entering ground. The work of the Hearer's entering ground is completed here. So, what is the ground of definite emergence? It is said: What is it that separates desire and attachment by the worldly path, what is it that separates desire and attachment by the supramundane path, and what is the collection of these themselves, gathering these together is called the ground of definite emergence. So, what is the connection that separates desire and attachment by the worldly path? For example, some people consider the desire realm to be coarse, and have meditative absorption and birth, having joy and happiness arising from solitude.

The first dhyana is regarded as peaceful. Thus, residing in it many times, one obtains detachment from desire, and also enters the first dhyana. Similarly, from the realms above the first dhyana, all lower realms are regarded as coarse, and all higher realms are regarded as peaceful. Observing in this way, and residing in these realms many times, one obtains detachment from desire up to the realm of nothingness, and also enters the realm of neither perception nor non-perception. This is called detachment from desire through the worldly path. There is nothing higher than this, and nothing more excellent. What then is detachment from desire through the supramundane path? For example, here, seeing noble individuals, being skilled in the noble Dharma, being adept in the noble Dharma, truly knowing suffering as suffering, truly knowing the origin as the origin, truly knowing cessation as cessation, truly knowing the path as the path, and possessing the wisdom and vision of learning. When one cultivates the path above that, one separates oneself from the dharmas to be abandoned by seeing and cultivating in the three realms, and attains liberation. Thus, one completely transcends the three realms. This is called detachment from desire through the supramundane path. What then is the collection of these? For example, one's own wealth, the wealth of others, aspiration for virtuous dharmas, the discipline of morality, control of the senses, knowing the right amount of food, striving without sleeping in the upper and lower parts of the night, true mindfulness, virtuous friends, listening to the true Dharma, uninterrupted thought, increasing generosity, and whatever is the adornment of a renunciant. These dharmas are called the collection of detachment from desire through the supramundane path. Among these, one's own wealth, the wealth of others, and aspiration for virtuous dharmas, their classification is as explained earlier in the context of explaining the causes for the perfect accomplishment of a seed.
