If asked whether they are separate, (the answer is) precisely those three (referring to suffering, origin, cessation), because they are the causes and conditions of the limbs different from this (path). If asked which of the limbs, when severed, causes the exhaustion of feeling and complete separation? (The answer is) one, namely, when the aggregates cease after abandoning the afflictions, all feelings disappear at that very time. If asked why seventy-seven kinds of wisdom are established based on dependent origination? (The answer is) Because of the meaning expressed by knowing the pervasive afflictions with causes; and the meaning expressed by the pervasive afflictions done by oneself to one's own continuum; and the meaning expressed by the beginninglessness of the limbs from the past extreme; and the meaning expressed by the opportunity for pervasive afflictions by the limbs from the past extreme; and the meaning expressed by the opportunity for the cessation of pervasive afflictions by the limbs from the future extreme; and the meaning expressed by the complete knowledge of the wisdom with outflows that is not included in the limbs. Because relying on these reasons, each limb has seven, so it should be observed that it becomes seventy-seven kinds of wisdom. If asked why forty-four kinds of wisdom are established? (The answer is) Because relying on observing each limb in the manner of the four noble truths, it becomes forty-four. Among them, if one is born in the desire realm, and with the body that acts in the desire realm, one accomplishes the eyes and ears of the upper realms, then he can also see the lower realms and the forms of his own realm, and he can also hear the sounds. The mind and non-discrimination that act in the three realms are accomplished by that very body. If one is born in the form and formless realms, then everything except the lower realms is accomplished in the same way as the desire realm. In order to abandon the three pervasive afflictions, namely, the pervasive afflictions of afflictions, the pervasive afflictions of karma, and the pervasive afflictions of birth, it should be known that there are six kinds of direct perception, namely, the direct perception of thought, the direct perception of faith, the direct perception of discipline, the wisdom of direct perception, direct perception of the truth, and arising from the edge of direct perception.
