It is considered to be clinging to self. If one thinks that there is only self, then the thought that nothing has self will not arise, which is not right. If one clings to self, then just as there is no self, merely clinging to actions as self is not right to think that there is self. Therefore, it is also not right to say that there is self. Thus, without prior thought, that thought enters; showing behavior after prior thought; clinging to the aggregates; establishing characteristics; complete defilement; establishing complete purification; establishing entry and exit; profound; author; establishing the liberator; clinging to the author; clinging to speech; clinging to views, it is also not right to say that there is self. Again, the nature of the true self should be explained, clinging to self in phenomena, because that would become a substance, so it should not be said that those are different or not different from it. Or, those phenomena are only the nature of self, and also the nature of impermanence, the nature of instability, the nature of unreliability, the nature of change, the nature of the law of birth, the nature of the law of aging, sickness and death, only the nature of the law, the nature of suffering. Just as the Blessed One also said: Monks, this is your self of the law, monks, your self is impermanent, monks, your self is unstable, unreliable, having the nature of change, and so on. Furthermore, through four reasons, it should be known that beings cling to actions: in order to be happy in name, in order to conform to the world, thinking that the things of beings do not exist at all, in order to eliminate fear, in order to clearly recognize the self, in order to create trust in others for merits and faults through names. Therefore, speaking of self is also not produced by reason. What is it to speak of permanence? For example, here there are ascetics or Brahmins, etc., just as said before.
