Being young, as well as having a distracted mind, as well as having incomplete and deteriorated faculties, as well as not generating the wisdom that corresponds to it, one will also not apprehend. Just as it is said that the result is manifest on the cause, so too, saying that sound (is permanent) should be regarded as unreasonable. Among them, the distinction of saying that sound (is permanent) is like this: the nature of sound should be regarded as abiding only as it is explained, and that abiding should also be regarded as becoming manifest by speaking in the manner of repeatedly declaring it. Therefore, they think like this: sound is permanent. Therefore, saying that (the result is) manifest is also generated by unreasonableness. Who says that the past and the future exist as entities? For example, here there are ascetics or Brahmins, or for this Dharma, some also think that the past exists, and the future also exists, just as what is happening now, it is completely established by its nature, it exists as an entity, and it is not an imputed existence. They think in this unreasonable way, and they also say so. Why do they think and say so? Because they do so through scripture and reasoning. What is the scripture? That should be regarded as before. These Dharmas also do not understand the sutras properly, for example, all twelve ayatanas exist, and the twelve ayatanas exist by their nature. The Blessed One said, for example, past karma exists, for example, past form exists, up to future consciousness exists. They misunderstand these. What is the reasoning? For example, here some are called logicians, thinkers, like before. They think like this: any Dharma that abides by its own nature, that is completely established by it. If the future does not exist, then, at that time, it will not obtain its own nature. If the past does not exist, then, at that time, it will be separated from its own nature. If that happens, its own nature will not be completely established. Therefore, it is not right to say that its own nature is not completely established. Therefore, they think that the past also exists.

It is also viewed and said that the future exists. To this, it should be said: Is the nature of the past and the future the same as the nature of the present, or is it considered to be a different nature? If it is considered to be a non-different nature, then the nature cannot be established as three times. If it is considered to be a different nature, then it cannot be said to be a completely established nature. To this, it should also be said: Is the nature of phenomena belonging to time the nature of permanence, or is it considered to be the nature of impermanence? If it is considered to be the nature of permanence, then it cannot be said to belong to the three times. If it is considered to be the nature of impermanence, then it cannot be said that it exists as such in the three times. To this, it should also be said: Does the future appear to come into the present time? Does it arise after moving? Does it remain as the future itself, and based on that, does the present arise? Does it change from not acting to acting? Does it change from an incomplete nature to a complete nature? Does it change from a different nature to a non-different nature? A future thing that is going to change into a present object, if it is said to come, then it will also abide in a place, and there will be no difference from the present, because it is permanent, which is unreasonable. If it is said to arise after moving, then the future will also become unborn, and what has not appeared before will also become born, and what has not been born will also become moving, which is also unreasonable. If it is said to remain as it is and arise based on that, then it will also become permanent, and what has not appeared before will also become born, and the future is also unreasonable because it has not been born. If it is said to change from not acting to acting, then what has not appeared will appear, and the previous faults will also change as they are, which is also unreasonable. Is that action a separate nature from it, or is it considered to be a non-separate nature? If it is considered to be a separate nature, then it does not have the nature of the future, so it is unreasonable. If it is considered to be a non-separate nature
