Birds do not make sounds, and signs similar to this appear. From this, they think to themselves: "Night has come, day has passed." They are constantly immersed in happiness and joy day and night, delighting in the five qualities of heavenly desire, and are completely controlled by heedlessness. The sounds of dance, the sounds of song, the sounds of musical instruments, dancing and dancers, laughter, and sounds of coquetry, and constantly gazing at various pleasing sights, constantly immersed in various fragrant scents, constantly immersed in various delicious tastes, constantly immersed in the supreme touch of heavenly maidens that is pleasant to the touch, they spend their time captivated by these. The gods experience such happiness, and for them, as previously shown in the case of humans, there is no disease, no change of aging, no suffering born together caused by lack of food and drink, and no other suffering of poverty. The gods who enjoy themselves in the Form Realm, those in the first dhyana realm, experience joy and happiness born from solitude. Those in the second dhyana realm experience joy and happiness born from samadhi. Those in the third dhyana realm experience the essence of happiness without joy. Those in the fourth dhyana realm experience equanimity, completely pure mindfulness, and unwavering peaceful happiness. Those born in the Formless Realm experience the happiness of peace and liberation. Furthermore, the six kinds of distinctions, namely the distinction of size, the distinction of extreme youthfulness, the distinction of conditions, the distinction of time, the distinction of mind, and the distinction of body, should be understood as transforming into distinctions of suffering and distinctions of happiness. The more the body becomes extremely large, the more it transforms into a distinction of suffering. The more the body becomes extremely youthful, the more it transforms into a distinction of suffering.

Alas! In whatever way the causes are extremely intense, extremely weak, and extremely diverse, in that way they transform into different kinds of suffering. In whatever way the time is extremely long and extremely continuous, in that way it transforms into different kinds of suffering. In whatever way one does not distinguish individually and is endowed with an extremely powerful mind, in that way it transforms into different kinds of suffering. In whatever way the body extremely transforms into a vessel of suffering, in that way it transforms into different kinds of suffering. Just as the view of the distinctions of suffering, one should also recognize the distinctions of happiness as similarly increasing as much as possible. Moreover, there are two kinds of happiness: that which arises from the wealth of non-noble ones and that which arises from the wealth of noble ones. Among these, the happiness that arises from the wealth of non-noble ones arises from relying on four kinds of requisites: requisites for joy, requisites for viewing, requisites for purification, and requisites for dwelling. Among these, the requisites for joy are, for example: vehicles, clothes, ornaments, laughter, dance, songs, the sound of musical instruments, incense, flower garlands, unguents, various kinds of fine adornments, amusement and gifts, the joyful enjoyment of men and women, and the accumulation of wealth. Among these, the requisites for viewing are, for example: striving for measurement, the size of stone slabs, striving for wheels, striving for wooden staffs, and things similar to these. Among these, the requisites for purification are, for example: durva grass, conch shells, bilva fruit, full vases, and things similar to these. Among these, the requisites for dwelling are food and drink. Fifth Chapter Among these, the happiness that arises from the wealth of noble ones arises from relying on the seven kinds of wealth of noble ones: the wealth of faith, the wealth of discipline, the wealth of shame, the wealth of embarrassment, the wealth of learning, the wealth of generosity, and the wealth of wisdom. Among these, the happiness that arises from the wealth of noble ones is fifteen times more excellent than the happiness that arises from the wealth of non-noble ones. What are the fifteen? The happiness that arises from the wealth of non-noble ones is all kinds of wrong conduct.
