The fault of not rejoicing in solitude, and even if that fault is eliminated, still acting in a way that is not prior vipassanā. Because of the superior wisdom that contemplates the Dharma, the fault of not rejoicing in individually examining the Dharma as it truly is. These twenty dharmas are contrary to attaining one-pointedness of mind in the aspects of śamatha and vipassanā. These twenty contrary dharmas, in brief, obstruct the arising of samādhi in four ways. What are the four? Unskillfulness in the means of samādhi, not practicing in all of everything, practicing wrongly, and practicing with laxity. For these dharmas that are contrary to samādhi, there are also twenty dharmas that are antidotes. Regarding this, it should be understood from the opposite as the white side. They are because of cherishing the abandonment of contrary dharmas, quickly and rapidly attaining the samādhi of correctly abiding mind. Attaining samādhi refers to attaining the upacāra-samādhi of the first dhyāna, and it should be understood as included in the state of unobstructedness. The extensive explanation of the contrary to attaining samādhi and the conducive to attaining samādhi is as follows: It should be known that there are twenty kinds, and there is nothing above this, and there is nothing beyond this. This is from the beginning of all pure aspects of the world, explaining and well showing all the attainment of samādhi of the practitioner of this Dharma. Therefore, after attaining samādhi in this way, one does not become satisfied with small differences, but rather desires to perfect samādhi, and views it as a virtue, and what is sought, and what is viewed as a virtue and desired, for that purpose one initiates diligence and abides, and is not overcome by the afflictions that have form and taste, not acting in all of everything, and in order to strive for virtue, therefore one cannot be overcome by them, and the pure

And do not universally associate with the vast places of birth, but rather be subject to the will of the inferior, and do not be discouraged by holding the thought, "I cannot." Therefore, since there is no discouragement in the mind towards the dharmas observed through samadhi, one should constantly and respectfully practice the signs of quiescence previously heard, as well as the signs of attachment and the signs of equanimity, and through such practice, one will follow accordingly. In this way, following the signs of the dharma, possessing absorption, and at the time of rising from it, in order to quickly attain higher knowledge, beginning with the perfection of samadhi, one desires to hear the sacred dharma. Relying on this, one asks and fully inquires from time to time. In this way, beginning with the perfection of samadhi, through diligent effort, one attains the inner quiescence of the mind that realizes actual samadhi, and the joy of extreme solitude. Through the insight of dharma, by individually examining things as they truly are, one will attain clarity and exceedingly bright light. By this alone, one should know that one has entered into actual meditation. This is called the perfection of samadhi. The expansion of the meaning of the perfection of samadhi is as follows: one should know that these eleven aspects are such, there is nothing higher than this, and nothing more excellent than this. Having attained actual samadhi, even though one has completed the perfection of samadhi, the mind is still afflicted by the craving to taste the flavor of the arising of samadhi, as well as pride, views, doubt, and the near afflictions of ignorance, and is not completely pure or completely cleansed. In order not to universally engage in those near afflictions, for the sake of subduing the mind, for completely taming the mind, for having control over the mind, and for gaining control over samadhi, one should think in this way, and separately examine the four places in twenty-two ways: clothing, conduct, admitting misdeeds, discipline, admitting strict discipline, and promising to constantly strive in the practice of virtue.

In order to abandon suffering, to separately contemplate the suffering of accepting these three places, namely: shaving hair and beard, abandoning the marks of householders such as hair; changing the color of one's own clothes and wearing them, separately contemplating the ugly appearance, this is separately contemplating accepting bad attire. Not being able to freely enjoy walking, standing, sitting, sleeping, speaking, etc., subduing arrogance, wandering in other people's homes for alms, separately contemplating this, this is separately contemplating accepting bad behavior. Not obtaining from others, etc., separately contemplating guarding life, this is separately contemplating accepting bad precepts. Through these five ways, one should know that one is separately contemplating the first place. Regarding the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya, properly taking the monastic precepts, in short, it is distinguished by completely abandoning two things, namely: completely abandoning desires such as parents, children, wives, servants, maids, employees, those who live on scraps of food, friends, ministers, relatives, elders, wealth, grain, gold, etc.; completely abandoning singing, dancing, musical sounds, laughter, play, free enjoyment, ridicule, mockery, body transformation, playing everywhere, making noise everywhere, and various kinds of playful joy. Thus abiding in the restraint of precepts, starting from the breaking of precepts, not secretly slandering oneself. Those who practice the same as Brahma will not say, 'This is a breach of precepts,' and the Dharma nature will not condemn it, nor will they talk about it. If he breaks the precepts, then from that basis, he himself will be condemned, and those who practice the same as Brahma will be condemned by the Dharma nature. After that, for those who properly remedy that fault and those who discuss it with those who practice the same as Brahma, there will be no distress at all.
