Some individuals, having found faith in the Dharma and Vinaya spoken by the Thus-Gone One, abstain from the darkness of household life and take vows of pure morality. Having taken them purely, they are content with just Dharma robes, alms, bedding, and a meager mat. They have few utensils and few possessions. They share the gains that accord with the Dharma with the wise, practicing celibacy equally, not hiding or being stingy. They speak with whatever is virtuous in the beginning, middle, and end of practicing Dharma purely. For example, having grasped and fully understood the collections from the Sutra section and the section of chanted verses to the section of wondrous teachings and the section of teachings that have been definitively established, they bestow the transmissions to others and extensively and correctly teach them. It should be known that those endowed with these virtuous Dharmas have three benefits: they will be praised by noble beings, Buddhas, and the Buddha's Shravakas. If one has well accumulated a collection of merit through morality and generosity of material things, and a collection of wisdom through generosity of Dharma, then, relying on that very place of birth of liberation, they will belong equally to the pure gods. Even if one has not well accumulated the collection, from then on, they will perfect the collection of merit and the collection of wisdom, and upon the destruction of the body, they will be born among the gods in the world of bliss and higher realms. Another way is this: here, some, having found faith in the Dharma and Vinaya spoken by the Thus-Gone One, have manifest faith in the result that immoral conduct will lead to bad migrations in the future, and stinginess will lead to poverty. Because of manifest faith, they abstain from immoral conduct and stinginess in this life. Because of abstaining, they abandon immoral conduct and take pure morality, and also abandon stinginess. With a mind free from defilement and stinginess, dwelling in a home, delighting in the distribution of extensive generosity, they will be praised by the noble ones even in this very life, and upon the destruction of the body, because of that basis

It is like being born among the gods. The main point of this explanation is: In short, the Blessed One taught the correct practice of householders and renunciants, and the benefits of the fruit of correct practice. It should be understood that this is the brief teaching. Hearing leads to understanding the Dharma, hearing leads to turning away from sin, hearing leads to eliminating harm, hearing leads to attaining Nirvana. This is called a verse, just like this, here, some people first start with the talk of giving and the talk of heaven, and listen to and receive the non-inverted Dharma teachings. In terms of meaning, it is also like this, that committing sins in this life is the cause of suffering and harm in the lower realms in the next life, and turning away from committing sins is the cause of going to and being born in the happy realms, thereby completely avoiding the harm of suffering in the lower realms, like this to understand. Therefore, like this, after understanding the Dharma in terms of meaning, practice the Dharma that is in accordance with the Dharma, turn away from the cause of suffering, and correctly accept and abide in the cause of happiness. Based on this, by obtaining happiness, one can avoid the harm of suffering. If one listens to the Dharma that corresponds to the Four Noble Truths, and through hearing also understands in this way in terms of meaning that all manifested and accomplished worlds are suffering, and that peace is Nirvana, like this, after understanding the Dharma in terms of meaning, if the faculties are mature and the conditions are complete, then with pure intention one can realize the meaning that arises from its cause.
